Transmission / Motor / Diff Oil Upgrades?!
Well guys, ive been considering upgrading my fluids in the TT. Having owned a GTR, there is a fantastic company called Willall which makes upgraded fluids with top quality for cars. They also provide a lot of data and comparisions and have been well trusted by the GTR community.. They are just one of the people im considering
Transmission :
I spoke with Martin from Willall the other day, he stated that he had owned two 996 TT's and had developed a Transmission Oil for his 6 Speed.. He stated the enhanced life and slighty thicker blend to cushion and quiet the transmission better. Im highly considering purchasing his blend due to the high quality status they have. Can anyone give me a specific on what type and grade Tranny Oil the 997 TT uses so I can confirm with him that his is also compatible for our cars? Does anyone know of any other well branded upgraded formula to switch to?
Motor:
As for the motor, Im currently running 0w-40 from the factory. I heard somewhere that a 5w-60 weight is not compatible with our Variocam. Can anyone confirm this? I spoke with Willall as well on what they had to offer and he suggested this current weight.. I was also considering switching to a Castrol blend since they also make a fantastic oil. I live in Florida, so can anyone suggest a proper oil weight for the type of climate I live in as well as usage for the track?
Differential:
I also spoke with Willall about this, they have currently and Incredible diff oil that has no additives other than these little micro ***** that provide cushioning and life extension to diffs. I was amazed by how much time and effort they put into their diff oil product and its very quickley become the standard GTR diff oil to use for all sort of abuse.. Can anyone suggest another brand as well and does anyone know of the current weight and grade that comes in our cars?
Looking forward to finding a path that enhances and extends the life of our cars..
Cheers

Ok, well I guess mentioning GTR makes people shy away.. (I only had it for a month lol)
So far ive come up with:
Transmission:
Mobil 1 Delvac.. Thats what the factory and 996 guys stick to.. The only reason I ask, is because my car is a bit thunky in 1st and 2nd gear and I wanted to see if I could find a better fluid to provide more cushioning and life extenstion..
OIL:
The Mobil 1 Synthetic stuff out there seems to be working just fine in our cars and so Im guessing its probably best to stick with it:
Differential:
Either the Delvac or WILLALL http://www.willallracing.com.au/lubr...m#differential.. there stuff is incredible compared to normal diff oils.. They have a weight of 75/140 which im still wondering if its compatible in our systems?
Anyone care to chime in?

There are several good discussions about engine oils in the GT1 block.
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...l-0w-40-a.html
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...bil-1-why.html
Porsche has a list of "approved oils" that many will follow. There are several here, however, that are big believers in engine oil ZDDP levels, and use Valvoline VR1.
As for transmission oil. Most tuners, track prep guys say Delvac only. I think there are a few who have a LWFW that have switched to Redline Shockproof...you may need to ask them for specifics. Redline help a great deal on my other cars with 1-2 notchyness. No personal experience on my 997TT. Do you have a SSK?

For engine oil, i would suggest you stick with the Porsche recommended Mobile 1 10-40 Super synthetic. You can try their racing oils for track days.

BBYU: I dont have an SSK, thanks for posting up those other links..
Twin Turbo: Why do you suggest I stick with the 10-40 and other oils only for the track? Wouldnt it make sense to use it all the time. I was considering a 5w-50
Heres is the response I got from Willall..
"We can thin the oil to 5w-50 motor oil for you no problems , but we haven’t come across any issues with Variocam……not sure if that’s actually 100% real,
Mobil 1 Delvac is a extreme duty engine oil, which is not really a great idea for any transmission. Our WR35TM blend for the Porsche is a similar viscosity (slightly thinner) but with Extreme Pressure gear additives which a normal engine oil simply doesn’t have. Our Porsche transmission fluid has a viscosity of 14cSt @ 100C while the Mobil 1 Delvac is 14cSt @ 100C which is very, very close, so there is no problem with any kind of compatibility.
The differential fluid – WR35DF - we use is a 75w-140 Full Synthetic with Solid Boundary additives.
