The Australian 997.2 Turbo thread
#16
I fitted a Cargraphic system (headers & 100 cell cats) two weeks ago. Not happy with the fit & workmanship quality. The Akrapovic quality looks first class. Quoted gain with RS Tuning ECU / exhaust upgrade is 70PS. The car is now a beast to drive, traction control light flashing every gear 1st thru 4th. The Akrapovic system uses larger 100 metal cats so I would expect a slight gain above the already quoted 70PS.
My car is still at the tunerīs shop and I am waiting for an answer to update to stage 4 if the difference is ECU & Secan ICīs. CG reduced the stage 4 price just after I installed stage 3

Gerbs, the press cars are here in Adelaide for the launch drive which finished yesterday and I had a drive last night. Very, very impressive. You will place an order after a test drive, believe me!
Is September the earliest date for any Australian S, or are you in a queue already?

I should have a better idea on Friday. But I have seen on some other posts that the manufacturing start date for the S in the UK has slipped by two months. Time will tell.

Last week I test drove the 997.2 Turbo. What a car. And today I finally took the plunge, put down a 10% deposit and ordered my Turbo S. Ice Blue Metallic with blue/black interior. The dealer said that I should hear in the next week or two about build date. Now the wait.

Congrats, gerbs!

Great looking car.....but shame about the $ increase. Typical Ausie pricing huh. I'm sticking it out in my 997tt.1 till 991tt arrives thanks. Cant see myself suffering too much meantime . Now...if this was the states...and one of these could be had for 170k then no worries. I'll take 2.

Yup...they sure know how to clean out a motorist's wallet. Always comming up with new ideas too. It's as if we are the only means for tax income revenue . Now if only they took a leaf out of the states (USA) book we'd be a whole lot happier i'm sure.

Good news mhh. Hope time flies until her arrival. Don't forget the piccy's.
Mine is still months away as you know. Hopefully no more IBM related delays. Will be in touch with the dealer next week to see if he has the new MkII build date.

You Aussie's staying out of trouble over here in the corner?
BTW, when you guys talk about prices are we talking US$, Yen, or AU$? $450k seems a tad much. You guys must be making $10k a week over there.

AU$. 10k per week - I wish . The reason cars cost so much over here is because we end up paying 43% tax on a car like this (10% GST and 43% LCT)
#29
That's why I went for the S. To give me time to save the $.

Yeah Ruf over here it sure costs to own a new 997tt. Some lucky fella is taking a fair old lump out of us along the way and that doesnt include the 5% import duty + 33% luxury car tax + 5% stamp duty plus rego. So if you look at what you guys pay..$150,000 USD for a new P turbo car car, then convert that into A$ at say @.83cents thats 180,722K then add 5% = 189759K then add 33% LCT = 252379.00K + 5% stamps=$264,998.00K = dealer delivery and rego at say 6k = 270,998.47K
So a new 997tt.2 with pdk, and some decent options is @ 440K drive away with discount then that means theres another $169,002.00 being tacked on somewhere. Gulp!! Now if we were making $10.00 per week....helllp!! We'd be all riding scooters and pushbikes.
I think in general Aussie salarys are pretty much on par with you guys. Yeh one could say you Americans are lucky with your cars. I guess that accounts for the numbers of these toys over your way VS the tiny numbers over here .
