While I have a few knowledgeable P-car Aussies online, I have been offshore for 25 years and planning of returning to Aus (Melb) sometime in the future (3 years) and importing a CGT. What's the ruling for importing a 2005 car? Do they base it on market value or on some red/blue book guide? I heard that the CGT hasn't been crash tested in Aus and therefore has issues for road use?? Is anyone aware of the issues? How much would the nett price be after import/duties, assuming a US$450K car?

I know someone that had a LHD E30 M3 a few years back. But then again the regulations might have been changed.

I've got a friend with a LHD 1999 Ferrari with special, limited-use registration in Tasmania. The NT also has some exemptions I believe. But, if you plan to live in one of the major cities, you would face being stopped by police on every outing in a modern LHD vehicle.

Yes, it's GT. I ordered IBM but switched when they told me I would have to wait till 2011.

Out of curiosity how long did your S actually take to arrive in SA from the date she was built? I've been told to allow 3 months.

I think the guy up in QLD with a road registered GT would beg to differ..... but having said that, im not sure if his is LHD or RHD.
