I personally dont think the porsche aerodynamic or engine displacement could come any close to them gallardo's .. there is no way you could beat that 5.2 litre displacement nor lambo's aerodynamic look when it comes to long pulls .. Once again no replacement for Displacement Period <!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message --> <!-- edit note --> <hr style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" size="1">

We will try our best. We are not sure if the 997TT with the big stroker engine will make it. It is in the plan today but we have 4 customer cars to finish in 3 weeks - all of which dont have engines built yet. Thank you for your kind words and support

So back to the 2010 997.2TT. We tested our new headers today. Long story short, we gained some decent peak power but lost some power down low. I think that the headers that we designed will work perfect for our upgraded VTG turbos, but for stock VTG turbos and stock exhaust, they seem to be too to big. The loss in power can be due to a decrease in exhaust velocity from the larger primary tubes. The gain up top is where the OEM headers seem to "choke" the flow to the turbos which is why our larger headers gain power. We will be doing some more testing tomorrow with some back pressure measurements to see where we stand compared to stock. We have a few ideas as to how to increase velocity without chocking the top end flow which we will be testing as well. Stay tuned!

Great thread. I am curious of the 60-130 times of your tuned 997.2 and when are you taking it to the 1/4 track?

What type of information do you base your comment on? The last couple of years a few 3.4liter Supras went 230mph+ and a couple 240mph+ at the TX mile.

u said it "couple of years ago" .. now where are those supra's standing ?? gallardo's are dominating the TX mile .. and I'm relying my info based on logic ! gallardo's are one of most aerodynamic sports cars out there with big engines and big turbo's, not to mention the unladen weight ! and the fact that they r making 1100+ to the wheels .. I am a porsche fan to the roots but lets face it how could u beat that???

was surfing youtube and this is what i found

IMO a tuned 997.2 would be the ultimate daily driver with (relatively) small engine and great power. Good for track day's as well. You don't need 1500rwhp for track day lol plus it cost 100k in addition to the cost of the G car to get that level of HP.

The Supras, Viper's, and G car's with the huge turbos and better for TX Mile but the cost of a TT Viper And a TT G is huge. I wouldn't even want to know how much an axle is to replace on a G car. But that is a different topic as this thread is about the new 997.2 and it's capabilities.

So far if we can cool down that oil and tweak the suspension for the track and keep it comfortable on the street we will have a winner. And find a way to fix the slow downshift's of the PDK.

What would be nice is a hand-held tuner to re-flash back to stock for dealer visit's? Is that on the to do list?

See you tomorrow... I'll have to get a ride in her then now with the software in it. See what she's like vs stock a few weeks ago?

PS The header stuff makes sense based on what you were saying about the exhaust stuff as well before. This is one tricky nut to crack eh

I apologize for stealing Todd, Ian, Rod, EVOM's thread, but these quotes need to be clarified.

Can't argue with displacement, however, I believe you are incorrect in your generalization of the Gallardo's aerodynamics. This has been independently tested at Daimler's wind tunnel facility in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim, Germany.

Sport Auto 2006
Drag Coefficient testing
Daimler, Stuttgart-Untertürkheim

2007 Lamborghini Gallardo
Cd 0.34
Frontal area 1.95 meters^2
CdA 0.663

2007 Porsche 997 Turbo
Cd 0.29
Frontal area = 2.03 meters^2
CdA 0.589

There are very few cars as slippery as the Turbo. The difference in effective drag favors of the Porsche by a significant margin.

Great research and numbers. I knew there was something lacking, thanks for making the P car owners proud

Actually a Supra still holds the record in the Texas mile as of last year, so they are still on top. No Gallardo or any other car has gone faster

Anyone considering doing this....ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY...Alex and his crew stand behind their work. If you are considering doing this I would highly recommend using Shark Werks.
