Is the modification easy enough that my mercedes technician can do it?

I've been informed that modification is very hard and must only be done to MKB's facility by Mr. Bader @ MKB.

and do you have a web address for them?

thanks

The queestion is, what should we do in order to protect the tiptronic from dammages, rebuild the tiptronic as MKB does or modify the torque converter?

Which one usually fails?

Tom I forgot to ask you this question via our previous PM's...

by increasing the TQ limits, what gains are seen?

Thanks as always for assisting the members here.

This is a dynograph of a 997tt tip car we did our EVT650/670 performance system on. The red torque line represents power at the wheels with the TCU upgrade vs the blue torque line before the TCU upgrade. Big difference.

Unfortunately we only did before and after drag strip runs to compare stock vs. EVT650/670 build. This is the tiptronic targa car that ran the 10.98 @ 127 mph with our TCU upgrade added.

I wish I had definitive numbers for you in regards to before and after but right now we do not. What I can tell you, because I was the one who tested the car at the strip for the before and after numbers, is that the increase in torque down low is very, very tangible. That tip car moved so effortlessly from low RPM, it felt more powerful than the numbers suggested. Extremely gratifying.

RZ.

I have spoke to a friend who lives in Greece and had his trany send to MKB for reinforcing it, he said that it was very good but he was abusing it, doing hard brake launches one after the other and then it started to slip again.

I believe they do a great job but what happens after continued brake launches is that the oil burns, then its not the trany, its the oil, Gemballa offers a large oil cooler for the tip gearbox but again if you abuse it i don't believe its going to help you.

Just to add upgrading the TC is not enough. I did that and I am still getting slip between n2 and n3, and n3 and n4, so it is the clutch packs. It needs more.

Question I believe that 9FF send them to MKB to upgrade - do you know that for sure, because the 9FF one has an oil tranny cooler fitted as well, which I understand MKB does not do?
