Who has the strongest turbo with a PDK
#2
Rob, I don't think here have been any PDKs with updated turbos that have posted data yet, however, it looks like EVOMS has a datalog for a 0-300 km/h in under 29 seconds. I think it was just a software tune?

I've seen so many topics on this forum on how good the new PDK is and how quick and reponsive .. u might wana explain why the new PDK is boring to drive??

Is the weak point of the PDK addressed just by swapping out the clutch (clutches?) or is there more to it? If this is the case, maybe a semi-high hp TT PDK car can be built. I think I saw a post from Champion where they said they are working on this.

Champion Motorsport already has a fully built PDK Turbo with their billet VTG turbochargers, gen2 intercoolers, software, headers, etc...
I think we'll see some more information on this car very soon...

Don't get me wrong. The PDK turbo is a fantastic drive. Driver involvement is relatively high thanks to the torque that the car provides. However, after 10 days of daily extensive driving (including several laps on the Hockenheim), I started missing the whole pedaling and rowing procedures. Only using one foot and neever heel/toe-ing got boring after a while and I really missed my 997.1TT (swapped with a friend by the way (thats what best friends are here for )). The speed is astonishing, it just feels very very artificial.
It is a great car, and dare I say it: an engineering masterpiece. However, no matter how quick it is, a proper rev-matched downshift accomplished by oneself will always feel better at the end of the day, then a computer doing all the work for you ;-)

Thats a totally diffrent perspective of boring then. u might as well say all auto trans are boring because u r a fan of a 3rd paddle rather than a "computer doing it for u" ;P .. Any how i'm very excited about the new PDK, i've heard pretty good reviews so far.

I don't really know how to explain or justify my statement, seeing as I loved the dual clutch in the 458 Italia I test-drove last week. Might be the fact that I'm used to a completely different feeling when seated in a turbo because mine is a manual.
Best regards,
Yannick

Quite wrong there, sir. The dual clutch is just so darn smooth. The SMG in an M6 (keep in mind that I hate BMWs, so this isnt at all biased) was more exciting. I own a scud...love the trans in that

Anyway, looking foward to the Champion Motosports PDK car! Really excited to see what it's capable of. Hopefully they can get some pbox and 1/4 mile data.

Champion Motorsport has secured Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) on April the 15th, where we will have a camera crew, and an internationally accredited journalist present to put the car through all of its paces, including acceleration tests, 1/8 and 1/4th mile, in addition to closed course track testing, finished with daily driving impressions. We will post photos and details when the testing is complete.
Please visit the 6speed link below for the write up I did on our power kit, and the results that we have so far attained.
