19' plus tire sizes
#46
Okay Bonehead...I finally had time to order street tires yesterday. They arrived at my front door this morning at 9:05 am...amazing...all for a whopping $57.78 delivery charge.
So, topic at large: TIRE SIZE. It seems next to impossible to get a matching set 245’s and 325’s as far as the UTQG rating (grip) and then Run Flat versions (F&R) in conjunction non run flats...cannot mix and match. Also, you cannot run RFT’s on a turbo. I guess the sidewalls are way too stiff and you will run in to handling and drive train issues. Which we have seen mentioned in various threads regarding this topic before.
It also appears the only way to get a matching set of 235/325’s is to go through a Porsche Dealer, they have some short of arrangement made with the tire manufactures. (So I have been told) Going through the dealer also means huge markups. So, it comes down to compromises....not just referring to cost but the size you/we were shooting for.
As I mentioned in previous threads, I recently installed Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions on my wife’s car and absolutely love them. This switching from a long run of Michelin PS2’s. Also last month I put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport CUP N0’s on my track wheels...not 100% sold on those yet...more then likely will be replacing with Hoosiers in the spring.
All that being said and weeks of laboring over this decision...I went with Bridgestone RE11’s in stock sizing (235/35 & 305/30’s). I’m so pleased with the performance of the 050A’s, I thought I’d try the RE11’s and compare the two. The tech helping me with this decision mentioned there was also about a 1,500 to 2,000 mile variance in life expectancy depending on your driving style. With these vehicles any thing over 7,500 I’m pleased with and both were rated and reviewed with over 7,500 miles.
The tech was completely non basis (mostly) in regards to tire manufactures and seemed fairly well educated with issues and tire configuring for our Turbos. Thus re-confirming many thoughts and issues other board members have brought forth.
Good luck with your tire and rim hunt. Also, congratulations on the new Daddy thing!

The RS wheels are what I’m currently running the Michelin Pilot Sport CUP N0’s on (8.5 inch font rims with 235’s and 12 inch rear rims with 305‘s). The RE11’s will go on my Champion Motorsports RS171’s (8.5 up front and 11.5 in the rear). In the spring I’m going to try 245’s and 315’s Hoosiers on the RS wheels if I don’t replace the RS rims for something different by then.
