Dealership says the front tire N rating must match rear tire N Rating?

Ok, so I made my decision. I WILL be replacing all 4 tires just to be on the safe side. Didn't really feel like spending it now but w/e i guess it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. and let's face it I am probably getting ripped off here... :P
However, since the dealer claims that the distributor they used only had 6 pairs of fronts left in the US, i will be requesting my current front tires be returned to me after the change as a backup. (Have you ever had a nail through the side wall a month ofter getting new tires and then found out that the next set of that tires isn't going to be in the US for over month? well I have..., not w/ this car though).

Good move. Youll really love the drive with fresh tires too....it'll be just like new again. Have fun . btw what tires are you putting on?

I took my car in to get rear tires (i do need new rears ). The dealer told me that I NEED to replace the front tires too bc the new rear tires have an N2 porsche rating and the older front tires have an N1 rating... can this possibly be true? I am and was very sceptical on the phone and made sure I didn't misunderstand him. I don't see how this could even matter. As far as i know you can even mix and match different brands of tire. front vs rear. Does anyone know the official answer to this?

I think the N2 revision of the Pilot Sport PS2's are brand new (w/ in the last few months). I believe they stopped manufacturing the Pilot Sport PS2's that were N1.

PS2's the new N2 revision.. I currently have the N1 PS2's. Seemed like the best for street w/o adding too much weight.

Wise choice. Its hard to top the ps2's and.. are the best imo . I'll try the N2"s when it comes time...that is if the ps3's arent available then.

I put a set of rears (N1) on the car about 4 months ago and I just checked Tire Rack and they aren't available anymore. Only the N2's in the rears, but N1 & N2 in the fronts.
