My 09' Turbo Coupe vs. My 07' GT3 50+mph

Today my friend and I took out my 09' Turbo coupe and my 07' GT3. We had a blast! I love both cars and it's always tough choosing which one to drive! We ran both cars side by side from 50 to 150 several times. Then we switched cars and ran several more runs to make sure it wasn't the driver. The results were the same! The cars ran almost even and the Turbo could not pull away! I was expecting the turbo to consistently pull way ahead but that wasn't the case. To top it off, my Turbo has a Switzer exhaust and tune. I'm wondering if the tune is off. What do you think? Here are some pics of today!!

Where in Dallas are you from? Would love to test out the cars on the mexican soil. We can run my stock 997tt against yours and see how they match up. See if there is anything going on with your car.

Cheers

He didn't explain it good. What they did was run the cars a few times to see which one was pulling and how close they ran. To his dismay, the GT3 was staying even during the full run. I have driven both of the cars as well. There is no way a tuned TT will stay even with a GT3. The TT should pull it way big. Something is off on the flash in my opinion. This is the TT I posted previously that we ran with my Pana Turbo and I stayed even with him or pulled him as well. Just no way.

Remember there is a 500lb difference between the cars but I would have thought that the turbo would pull away some.

I agree with sillster1, one of my best buddies has a 07 gt3 and when we run I see the same results. Not the pull away that I expected. I only have a tubi exhaust on my 07tt. I was thinking that the weight difference between the two cars was a factor as well.

I have run plenty of GT3s at Road America on the straights. There is something wrong. The 997 Turbo stock is nearly a second faster to 124 mph than a 997 GT3. Stock to stock. A Switzer flash and exhaust should have put you at minimum a bus length while continuing to pull.

Didn't you have the same problem with cc08gt2's Panamera Turbo?

I contend assert that there may be something wrong with your tune, and a vbox datalog of one of your runs will help confirm this.

Yes, I'm the one that ran against a Panamera Turbo a month ago. We did the same runs and ran even. Everyone said no way. I'm going to call Switzer Tuesday.

schillster, just as a point of reference, there is a verified 60-130 run with a 997 Turbo with a Switzer tuned ECU and exhaust. The time was ~7.1 seconds.

In comparison, a GT3 should be running in the high 10 second to 11 second range for the same run.

Looks like a Switzer detune. JK Can you re-flash back to stock? Try that.

Good choice. But I would have made that phone call right after you failed to beat the Panamera.

Something is obviously wrong with your car, but I'm sure Tym will sort it out quickly.
