anyone get a "perfect" tint?

My buddy with a C2S and I signed up for Formula One Pinnacle ceramic tint. His car goes first and it shows some irregularity at the bottom of the windows with the metallic border. My buddy is very picky and was quite unhappy. They reassured him that it would get better in a week to 10 days. I took them at their word and gave them the go ahead to do my car which also has that metallic border. Mine also came out not looking great in some spots, usually at the bottom but a few in other spots. Well 10 days later my buddy's car looks okay (a few glitches remain). Mine doesn't look like it has improved anywhere near as much as his. I waited 2 weeks and took it in (it also had a bubble in the front window). They will replace the bubbled segment but we decided to give it another week or 2 with the metallic border. Guy says that this is a known problem with many car manufacturers. I remind him that he told me that it wouldn't be a problem just before I put the car in. He offers partial refund cause I'm not really happy about this situation. I decline b/c it was a fair price. Hopefully it'll improve. Has anyone gotten a "perfect" tint with no issues around the metallic border? I'll post pics later just to show what I mean in case it isn't clear.

Wasn't overly thrilled with the bottom of mine either for what its worth. It has gotten marginally better, but still not where I would like it.

Precisely why i ended up deciding not to do mine. Saw a few that had been done and all were noticeable in this area. It kinda cheapens the car imo.

Mine came out nearly perfect, only one little spot at the top corner of the passenger window has a tiny little mark, other than that Top of the Line tint in NJ did a great job

hmmmm....so it is possible to get it without "bleed" onto the metallized edge (that's how I would describe it). The guy did offer to redo it or remove it and refund the money. I love the way it looks (pics later) and will keep it. I'm afraid if they mess around with it that it may look worse.

Not sure what you mean. I HIGHLY recommend Dan @ Custum Sun Control in Marietta, GA if any of you all are Atlanta locals. He uses Formula ONE and holds quite a few 1st place titles in an annual tint off held in Vegas. A friend of mine took his S4 to Dan and each of his windows looked like they were R&R after being dipped in tint. Flawless!! My turbo now looks stunning against the speed yellow paint!

I was told it was only an issue with cars that have the metallized edge on the windows - 997, BMW 335, others. The problem is in the metallized area where it doesn't look uniform, and looks like the tint "bleeds" into the metallized tint. I'll post a pic later.

Here's a pic. I had trouble with glare in the pics with the really bad area, but this area shows a little "bleed" to explain what I'm talking about:

I'm waiting to hear back from Formula One, the tint company, and I might get it redone.

That area of the glass is not flat, those black dots are raised. I would love to see someone get the tint to lay flat on that area!

I think yours looks better than mine man (for whatever that's worth - haha).

I'm with you though. Love the overall look, just wish it wasn't a bit of an eye-sore from close up.

BOGG, Thats not a bad tint job, the dot matrix is raised and therefore will always cause that little thing you call "bleeding", only way to get rid of it entirely is to somehow shave down the little dots from the inside then clean then tint

i just tinted .. i wish i had taken some pics.
the finish looks awesome and reflection is just right, a ceramic tint called Huper... It's 100% ceramic no iron no bronz no metals in the material. Therefor, it doesn't affect the cell phone signal nor GPS and doesn't fade away with time .. http://www.huperoptikusa.com/ this is the link

lol.

the pic shows a "not bad" area. There is a worse area which goes over half of the border. I'm not sure if it's worth getting them to retry it since it may end up worse. But I do love the tint overall though. This one is all ceramic too, and keeps the car much cooler from the hot sun.

dont think its gonna get any better than that. another option would be to cut the tint short and put the edge of the tint at the top of the "dots".

My tint on my 996 rear glass looked just like this when it was done and I was given the same explanation... it will get better in two weeks... it did not. I ended up not worrying about it and sold the car with it but my friend with a vantage went to the tint shop and his back glass looked perfect in that same area. I'm not sure why mine didn't come out as well his
