997 GT2 vs 2011 997 turbo S

well the turbo s will have more user friendly features such as the cabrio option, the PDK, AWD and maybe somemore interior features.
The GT2's money is spent more on stuff like carbon fiber and Ti exhausts.
I would get the TTs but thats me...
PS. I would say most anyone could drive the TTs faster than the gt2, unless you were the stig...

The GT2 is a much better car IMHO. It can be driven quite fast, and with the cage, makes a better track car. You don't have to be especially experienced to drive it quickly. In fact, the 996 GT2 is a very fast and safe car if you set it up correctly. But to each their own.

I cant speak from experience, but I am planning on getting the Turbo S in about 18 months when my lease is up. But recently I have been wondering if I should get a used 997 GT2 instead.
For me I am still leaning towards the Turbo S since it will fit my needs more then just impractical lust and fantasy.
The TTS has
-better and more creature comforts for a DD and thats what I would be using it for.
- having back seats which my little boys love riding in my porsche.
- I deal with traffic on the freeways here in S.Cal, I dont want a manual tranny as my DD.
For The GT2
-pure lust!

They are totally different-purpose cars. In 2008, I drove a GT2 for 30 miles and it was on the verge of "going" all the time. I'd never driven a Porsche before and that same day I drove a GT3 which was much more drivable and enjoyable- but neither car would make anything more than a 30-mile drive fun because of marginal comfort-compared to the 2007 997 Turbo I bought used in 2009 (after driving the GT2&3) or the 2011 Turbo S I just had delivered:

Today, the Turbo S is doing 100-200 miles as part of the 2000 mile break-in that I want completed (it now has 865) by a week from now so I can oil change on Friday and track it on Sunday! A GT2 or a well driven GT3 would beat it on the track. But so what?

Crazy question. GT2. A simple flash and exhaust and you have one of the fastest road cars of all time. And in the end, you will always remember GT2.

I think with a Turbo S you will also have one of the fastest road cars of all time, no flash needed.

if you want a DD, the turbo s would be my choice. if you want a weekend toy, the GT2 is much more hard core, especially if you plan to track it as well. the GT2 can also be purchased at a good price right now, and should hold better resale value when you choose to part with it.
