Try the OZ Superforgiata wheels. For the price, weight and strength I don't think anything else comes close. I have a set on my car and absolutely love them.

The weight loss thread posted in Post #1 is a VERY good read. Lots of factual info, with REAL weights, including mine. My old 996turbo was down about 250lbs easily and it was very noticable. I can't imagine the 997 is a much different animal, as far as parts to be removed/replaced...

Woo hoo! This thread is still alive after like 3 years.

I'd suggest either OZ superforgetaboutits, Jong Bloed 305s, or Breyton, combined with some retrofitted PCCBs, light Pirelli Corsas, and tossing the front diff you'd lose about 175-200+ lbs right there. Put in a Braille Lithium, Agency Power Ti (or Oakley) exhaust, Tilton triple carbon clutch/RS flywheel, Carbon roof, hood and Recaro/Tillet seat(s) and toss the spare tire, plus rear seats you have yourself a serious car sitting at close to 3000lbs curb. Probably 550 hp with a retune.

Forget about race class, just have fun shedding weight on this car. hilarious

Does anyone actually convert 997.1 TT cars to RWD? Although popular on the older mechanical 996TT platform, I didn't think it's something you could or would do knowingly to a 997.1 or 997.2 TT.

Stock battery weighs 49 pounds

I bought a braille light weight 21 pound battery from jegs for $175 made a bracket and it was a cheap loss of weight. Quick cheap 28 pound loss..Especially if u needed a battery!!

Great thread, thanks for bringing it back from the dead. I find it kind of humorous that you can save more weight by pulling the back seats & seat belts than you can by spending $6k on carbon fiber parts :).

I have some PCCBs if anyone is looking to lighting there car. It also makes a big difference to unsprung weight.

Any shop sell light weight rear rotors ??

Squat 05-05-2014 12:04 PM

Heard plently about disconnecting ( which i would do before removing the thing) the front diff and axle, most people hate it. Or thats what Todd from trophy Performance says. Lots of guys want it done then come back and get it put back

For being the "Offical weight loss thread," its lost its weight in momentum (maybe some weight also.) Where is everyone at with the 997 turbo?

I pulled a boatload of sound insulation out of the rear fender the other night while preparing for my bar installation.

What are the top mods for a lighter weight vehicle?

1) Wheels
2) Battery
3) Rear seats
4) Run a half tank of fuel
5) Go to the gym and lose weight.

Hey brother, look at the 996TT weight loss thread. Pretty much 90% will apply to the 7TT.
