range 4 over revs. Do you have it?
Hey guys,
I am a little concerned about the 95 range 4 over revs that my car recently collected on dyno. I talked to Todd K today and he told me the rev limiter is set to 7300 on my ms109 file and sometimes he sets it to 7500 for the guys that want to make 60-130 runs. I guess is fairly safe to rev the car up to 7500, but at what rpm the motor may face some serious damage? Can the rev limiter efficiently stop the motor when you are still giving it full throttle at rev limiter?

He's rite, im sure as the years go by, we will start to hear that people will be running these cars to 8k regularly on stock motors.

No worries on the brief time spent in range 4. If it makes you more comfortable, you can have your tune lowered to 7K rev limit and still easily hit 130 in 4th. In fact with vtgs, probably losing power at top end anyhow.

Thanks guys!
That's right. There's really nothing I can do but live with it. Worry about it won't get me any where.

I was only tripping 1-3 before. 4 is actually a bit harder to hit ?

I guess it should be fine, but I don't want to run it up there very often. There are gotta be a few guys that run their cars up to 7500 regularly when they do th 60-130 pulls.
I tried the hight boost ms109 file yesterday and the car didn't feel faster than the regular file. in fact, I was not hitting full boost for the first couple pulls.

Get yourself a Pbox (if you don't already have one) and do some measurements. Butt dynos are not that reliable. I can clearly see a difference between pump vs race but I also have upgraded vtgs.

Thanks for checking. That's alot of over revs; I wonder what rpm your limiter is set at. I have never hit the limiter myself on proto tune; Only a few times on the fvd tune.

I should definately get a Pbox and I can log some 100-200 times too.
Race file is definately faster than pump file, alot faster actually.
I was comparing the 2 race files that i have, and the car seem to enjoy the regular race file more than the higher boost race file. It may has something to do with the fuel I got. I didn't buy a whole drum this time, the guys who sells vp fuel pumped out 20 gallons for me out of his drum . not sure how many times it has been open and closed; may not as fresh as the one I had at home.
I will definately do some more data logging when I get my DME back and get the car started.
