Modded VTGs - How to Get the Most Out of a 997TT Without Changing the Transmission

Hi Guys,

What are the main modifications done to the stock VTGs to get the best results?

I know of:
1- bigger billet compressor wheel
2- clip turbine
3- extrude housing
4- Anything Else?

I am trying to establish know how much can be squeezed out of the following setup on Pump Gas without crazy boost and with the stock tranny.

I am looking to do the following:
- Protomotive Modded VTGs
- 5" Intercooler
- Protomotive 2.75" X-Pipe Catless Exhaust
- Protomotive Tune
- Intake - BMC Panel Replacement Filter
- TCU Upgrade
- Boost Recirculatoin Valves

Who all have similar mods and what numbers are you doing?

Please list:
- mods
- whp
- wtq

- 1/4 mile
- 60 - 130
- 200 to 300

I know there are some great cars out there with Modded VTGs like Milou's and 997John's!

Come on guys post your cars and info

farris,

What can kind fuel you will use ?

If you have low octane, you won't get good results from modded VTG's.

So what is the difference bewtween the old Proto750kit and the new one?

What all goes into modding VTGs now adays apart from:
1- bigger billet compressor wheel
2- clip turbine
3- extrude housing

In London I only ever see around 93 Octane. Shell offer their V-Power fuel, but I think that is around 93 Octane as well (not sure).

On the shell website it says "Shell V-Power is a high octane fuel (99 RON) designed to help maximize the performance of many modern engines with adaptive spark timing capacity."

http://www.shell.co.uk/home/content/...pkg/tech_spec/

I don't know what 99 RON is.?

Great info!! Thanks for posting!!

So with modded VTGs you can expect 6.5-7s with some supporting mods?

OT I realize but, Do you have any data on the SPI 800 package?

Our P800 package does not use modified VTG turbochargers. Our dealer TTR in Russia is running our R750 VTG package with a best time of 10.1x.

P800 is close to the 9's as well, same with the R911 on a tiptronic. We will have some numbers shortly.

The P700/R750 has won the Moscow Unlim 1/4 mile and mile event 3 times, the P800 got it's first win a few weeks ago.

I have tested my car with 91 octane (equals to ~95 octane Euro fuel), it really changes things.

Off the shelf 93 octane tunes won't work with that octane level, ECU retards timing too much.

997tt loves high octane, thanks to its 9.4:1 compression engine

Yeah, but that would require shifting...
60 -130 mph (96.5-209.2 kph): 5.85 - MBailey / RWD / 0-shifts (stock internals)
