Can a modded Porsche really beat a Hayabusa?
#106
In the 1/4 mile busa will not win, it will be running alone.
I started this discussion just because a lot of people in this forum believe that their exhaust/ECU/modded turbos car can beat a bike.
A Hayabusa with just exhaust/ECU is faster than the Sledgehammer, i'm using this car as an example since Switzer is the only tuner on the forum who posts time resaults.
I'm sure that there are some cars out there that can beat a bike even from a dig, like the TT galiardo, doing 9,1 in the 1/4 mile.
The point is that a Hayabusa with minor modds and pump fuel is crazy fast and with a sprayer is unbeatable, the last i PBOXED did 100-200 in 2sec flat.
I don't want to create conflict i just want to be realistic.
Talking about top speed a stock bike will loose to a modded turbo. Modded bikes with longer gearing ($100) can exceed 200mph very very easy.
I stopped posting because Scott took this conversation a bit personally

We have some plans for you bike guys... stay tuned!

2 seconds 100-200 is heavily modded (sprayer) and total insanity
actually 100 kph-200kph(125mph), the stock busa did 4.6 seconds. That would put it right at 5 seconds for 60-130. There are 8 turbos on the 996/997tt forum that will beat that. And if you extend the upper speed to 150, there are probably more.

so the fastest lap by any bike ever is a 7:49. Not bad, had to be a great rider. I am sure a busa would be in the high 8's. You see bikes get passed all the time by the ring taxi M5's

Not bad at all, a busa should be much slower than 8sec, its not a track bike, its a highway beast, just like a GT3RS vs a TT on a track. Hayabusa just like a Porsche turbo was made for long highway runs on high speed, not for achieving lap times

At Laguna Seca, the production LiterBikes on street tires, NOT slicks are running at 1:27 Lap times.. The fastest "production" Car ever, is the 650 HP Dodge Viper ACR "special edition" at 1"33.9, it had custom gearing, Pilot Sport Cup tires, custom optimized aero package, lowered ride height, coilovers, custom springs, etc, etc. See picture below.
Porsche RSR's are running 1:23's in qualifying, AMA SportBikes (600cc) on DOT Pirellis are running 1:28's, MotoGP bikes are running 1:21's in qualifying.. Today's Motorcycles are just astonishing straight off the showroom floor. In the end though, Cars (Race Cars that is) will always be faster at the track due to power, more tire on the road and aerodynamics. An F1 Car (a Toyota) did a 1:06.3 at Laguna!!!!!!!

Ok lets be more specfic
1- U said " A Hayabusa with just exhaust/ECU is faster than the Sledgehammer "....How do explain those vids
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFk5luw7imc
http://www.streetfire.net/video/prot...ull_128781.htm
Scott 996tt and David GT2 made less hp/tq and ran slower 60-130 than sledgehammer
What do u think???
2- u said " a Hayabusa with minor modds and pump fuel is crazy fast and with a sprayer is unbeatable, the last i PBOXED did 100-200 in 2sec flat."
No one said that modded porsches can beat bolt on busa + Nos but it is still depends how much the busa spray
Im sure u saw that vid before...The SW GTT vs LMR TT/Nos Vette and LMR TT Camaro.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LeZQawQvfU
That +1000rwhp Camaro ran 60-130 in 4.2sec which is as quick as SPI Sledgehammer
As i saw the Bolt ons ZX14 plus 50 shot of nos can't even catch the Camaro
What do u think??

Off topic:the ring taxi I noticed in June was an Aston-Martin

Wikipedia doesn't have all the correct facts.. A Bike has gone 7:17 (A GSXR 600 lightweight with a near Pro level rider), but that was for the shorter length track. Youtube has some laps for the full track in the 7:18 region, for LiterBikes. The Lap by Helmut Dahne was done on a 750cc Motorcycle in 1993... The tire technology alone will take 30+ seconds off a lap today, let alone the fact that that bike was making all of 112 HP at the crank and the brake techology back then was highly sub-optimal.

Not at all, bro! Just because I think you're wrong doesn't mean I'm taking anything personally.

Try to keep an open mind and bear with those of us that have actually raced both Cars and Motorcycles and still do. We tend to know what we are talking about vs. those people that have not ridden a modern day sportbike. My position is and always has been that in the end, Cars are just faster, but they require a TON of mods to reach what a $10,000 Bike can do right off the showroom floor. If you want to talk mod for mod, a Motorcycle will kill any street car on the planet... Note that a turbo'ed Hayabusa went 272 MPH in a recent standing mile event.
Bill Warner's 272 MPH on a Turbo Hayabusa!
Bill Warner Builds a Funky Flier
From the July, 2010 issue of Super Streetbike
Maxton played host as Bill Warner, a 41 year-old marine biologist from Florida, crushed the longstanding record of 260.288 mph (since 2005) in the standing mile.
British motorcycle magazine Performance Bikes Magazine began testing their bikes in a regular feature at the Nordschleife in March 2007 and finished in December 2007. Bikes were tested by Dale Lomas and a character named only as The Baron. As with sport auto, all machines tested are road-legal (albeit in the UK) and shod with road-legal Bridgestone BT002 Pro Race tyres. To date there are 28 lap times published in the regular feature. As motorcycles are forbidden to participate in industry pool sessions and after-hours test sessions, Performance Bikes were forced to test during quiet mid-week tourist sessions, where speed limits apply in some sections. This means their lap times are measured from bridge to gantry (see below) and are approximately 22 seconds shorter than a full 20.832 km (12.944 mi) Nordschleife lap.
Fastest Record Breaking Lap @ the Ring was just completed (December)!
1. MV Agusta F41000 312 (7:21.8, December 2007)
2. R1 (7:28.8, October 2007)
3. Aprilia RSV 1000R (7:32.6 August 2007)
4. Ducati 1098 (7:34 Dec. 2007 - The Baron was injured during this run)
5. GSXR 1000 K7 (7:35.7 Date?)
6. Honda CBR 1000RR (8:12.6.... 2007)

Serious question for the bike guys: What's faster from say 40-150mph? A stock or lightly modded GSXR 1000 or Busa, or a heavily modified R6 that's been re-geared and also spraying a 75-shot of nitrous?
The R6 is ridden by a very experienced 160 lb rider who claims he consistently pulls both stock and lightly modded liter bikes when he's spraying.
Thoughts?
