That ET is phenomenal for a showroom-stock vehicle. You can also tell when you look at the C&D list of quickest/fastest, that the 997.2TT PDK is doing more with less... the trap speed would tie for 8th place, but the ET slots it at second, in front of everyone but the Veyron. Impressive indeed.

Can't wait to see what EVOMS, Switzer, Protomotive, Champion, et al, achieve out of this platform after they've had a couple years to tinker with it.

Tuners beware. Its hard to see how anyone could reasonably improve on this car! I'd be scared to mess around with it. I'll never forget once when I was a teenager hanging out in a friends garage working on our old cars, turning over the top of the air cleaner housing etc. His dad came in, shook his head and said something to the effect 'do you two really think you can improve on the people that engineered these cars'...

Exactly, especially on a PDK tranny 911 TT! Champion Porsche with their Works1 "War Admiral" Project car were only to "eek" out a 0-60mph of 2.6 secs just a little bit under 600bhp. Can't do much beyond that with the PDK until it is modified to support the power that the tuners are going to be throwing at it. And even at that how much sooner can we hit 60mph? It won't be too long once we see some proper Modified PDK transmissions running with the Bugatti with a little over six-tenths the power!

What the "ACID TEST" will be is seeing some Manual transmission 997s going 2.6-2.9 seconds. Now that is what I call a fun car.

Thumbs up

This is the beginning of an incredible journey that Porsche is about to take with their PDK systems. If this becomes the new benchmark for Porsche as the 3.6L was back in the GT1 days then these Porsches will remain unstoppable.

Once these PDK transmissions become strengthened by tuners or hopefully Porsche themselves then it's over for any sports car manufacturer trying to compete. Not only because of these incredible transmissions (which are also available with Ferrari) but due to the insane engine characteristics that Ferraris, and Lamborghinis simply do/cannot possess.

That being said I don't like how they stated "...Although the Porsche couldn’t quite match the Ferrari’s pace on the racetrack..."

This is a 4wd vehicle that is intelligent enough to adapt to 2wd characteristics under certain conditions. Give any avid non-experienced car enthusiast the keys to the Turbo and the Ferrari at the test track and it is guaranteed that the turbo would be much easier to control at the limit, resulting in much faster lap times.

0.1 secs away from a Bugatti Veyron to 60mph? That is an accomplishment rivaled by none.

Porsche I salute you! Time to strengthen my 5speed tiptronic slush box

guys i was wondering, most tracks have rules that if you run under a certain time you need to have a roll cage or they throw you out, i think most track ar around 11.5 , with cars like this running in the 10's stock or even these gtr's with just a tune that run low 11's does that mean the track wont let you run if your car is too fast bone stock??

No matter what reputation the car has, the track will let you make a pass. BUT, get below their bogey time (it was 11 flat where I ran) then you have to meet their safety requirements before you'll be able to run again.
