Some of you may or may not know, Hre has been making a lightweight 18" monoblock wheel that is being used by Fall-Line Motorsport in the Grand-Am Continental challenge cars. Based on the success of these wheels, HRE has released the R40 for the public.

HRE Performance Wheels has unveiled a NEW forged one-piece motorsport wheel for 2011, the R40 Monoblok™ for dedicated track and the highest performance street cars. I don't think they made P40's in 18"... these R40's are only 18".

Look great though. Are they expensive?

Guys i have the Official weights:
There was one rule when making these wheels. HRE wanted under 20pounds and as strong as possible.

18x9: 17.4 pounds
18x12: 19.9 pounds

 

You know price is all very subjective. Here I believe you get what you pay for. You get HRE quality and engineering for under $4900 for a set.

very different, these wheels are only available in 18" while the P40's were 19" so the difference will be atleast 6 pounds less
