In a search of the best Turbos for my 997.1 TT

I'm glad you have them so you can compare the extruded vs non-extruded. I presume that's what the new hot sides are that you are referring to? Can't wait to see your numbers. I saw fastlaw's numbers but I must confess that I was expecting a bit more power for the money, although I note that the extruded version holds it's power higher in the rpm range.
great thread, I'm hoping to get some good info here to also help me decide.

sounds like you're taking the expensive route!

Anyway i had them ordered before knowing about the 68mm VTGs. This is a totally different mod and not at the same level as 68mm, just a little more power around 50WHP, not bad

I mean expensive route by trying things one at a time, but I saw your post above about not knowing about the 68 upgrade. To be honest, if you're wanting more power than your current vtgs I would think you'd be better off going to something like alpha 3071 which supposedly has little lag and can be setup to be quite powerful for only a bit more money than the Champion 68s.
But I can't wait to hear what you have to say about the extruded hot side compared to non-extruded!

My tuner said is not about gaining more power with extruded hot sides, its more about holding power/torque high to red line.
As always i will say what really happens, you will know if it does or does not worth it by the end of next week
I believe i will notice and like the difference since Todd has never disappointed me before.

Todd is my tuner too and hasn't disappointed (although I haven't been able to get a hold of him lately, guess he's busy). If you look at the dyno results on his website vs fastlaw's dyno with extrude you can see that it is exactly what you said - same peak power but instead of the power falling off above 6k rpm it continues to hold up higher. Now is that worth 1700 bucks? I'm not sure it is for me, but still waiting to see some performance numbers before deciding.

that is the truth.
iirc, you didn't have your engine "built" to support the 68 turbos, right? Does that mean you don't have any warranty?
