Exhaust System Question

Exhaust System Question
I am considering buying a used exhaust system for my 2007 TT. Included would be: Evolution Motorsports Headers, Fabspeed SS V3 Exhaust and Fabspeed Quad Tips. My questions are first will the V3 exhaust work with my Tiptronic car. The Fabspeed website appears to have a V2 for Tips and Cabs? Second, if it will work, any input from guys who have this set up. Thanks for input.

Hi Mick, no to Header for now & do some more research before settling on your current choice of exhaust (read the exhaust discussion in my signature).
Re. why no to header, below is from an earlier thread, but bottom line is it's a trade-off, larger primary tube may cause torque loss and header is more or less for very high power application, if at all:

You might want to read this very good thread first: Headers, Headers and more Headers
Pardon me if the following info is old news to you -- just trying to help here: The header should not be the first component in your power upgrade. The most typically recommended path is exhaust, then ECU, then intercooler, and maybe header later on down the upgrade path.
Header is a complex component and requires matching with the rest of your setup, including your ECU tune. Some argue a re-tune of the ECU after adding header. So to decide which header, you almost have to decide which tuner you are going to use for the ECU mod, then follows the recommendation of that tuner regarding header. In other words, if you are going to use GIAC, then yes AWE is the tuner you would talk to as the AWE header is developed as a package with the GIAC ECU tune. Most definitely do not pick based on look, or sound, or cost.
A header shifts the power band (see below) and may not always be beneficial. From the boldfaced sentence below, one could almost argue the choice depends on your driving style!

Great care must be used when selecting the length and diameter of the primary tubes. Tubes that are too large will cause the exhaust gas to expand and slow down, decreasing the scavenging effect. Tubes that are too small will create backpressure against which the engine must work to expel the exhaust gas from the chamber, reducing power and leaving exhaust in the chamber to dilute the incoming intake charge. Since engines produce more exhaust gas at higher speeds, the header(s) are tuned to a particular engine speed range according to the intended application. Typically, wide primary tubes offer the best gains in power and torque at higher engine speeds, while narrow tubes offer the best gains at lower speeds.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Hi vpmick, the version 3 system for your turbo will bolt right on and work just fine, but it will sound more aggressive and louder on the Tip or cab car due to the convertible top and transmission. We recommend the version 2 for the Tip/Cab cars due to sound because they tend to have some resonance or drone at the lower RPM range. But the system will still work and sound awesome on both cars, because I have many customers who run the louder system on their Convertible or Tiptronic car, its just personal preference. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Vpmick, If you decide to explore other options shoot John or I a PM and we can discuss what we have available for you, we could go a few different routes and build to your liking. As Alex stated, with it being a tip car, sound should play an important role in your exhaust choice. Either way GL and enjoy the car!

i dont know if i agree too much with the argument to keep the stock headers. maybe if you had a naturally aspirated car that would make more sense but with a turbo you wanna let them breath. I would definately go with the latest version of the evoms header. it really is a nice piece, much nicer than any other header ive seen. very quality product, one of my favorite things about it is that is doesnt hang low. has same, if not better clearance than the factory manifolds. fabspeed headers are popular but every single one of them is dented cause they bottom out on speed bumps. now the fabspeed exhaust is also a nice product that i would recomend, that or a bbi exhaust is also very nice. your on the right track, youll be happy with the exhaust package your interested in.
