XM NAVTraffic and 2011 TTS
#16
NavTraffic and Weather on my 2011 Cayenne S has been out since the 29th of December. Finally got through to someone at XM who stated that they are continuing to have problems with the traffic and weather system. They stated that it should be resolved by January 8-10. They acknowledge it is their issue and not Porsche.

If you are waitng for something to happen, forget it. You must invest the time to call XM. My issues were eventually resolved as previously detailed, with much support from the dealer (who spent about two hours total on the phone with XM over a series of days).
Issue is that your radio ID is not recognized by XM as NAVTraffic capable. This has to be done manually by some higher level tech, then XM must also refresh that NAVTraffic signal (apparently different from the SAT refresh). You can't do the NAVTraffic refresh yourself.

Yes, same happened with mine, worked in November, then out in late November, as I recall. The list of enabled radios was lost/corrupted/ whatever and thus the signal is no longer being sent to your radio. XM doesnt know that you are not getting the signal as you are not on their list. Get the dealer to call them for you. Working through the menus and speaking to customer service people in India won't get this fixed for you. You can't talk to anyone at XM that can fix it. Somehow, the dealers can.

To follow up on my situation, I called my dealer on the 28th of January, and that day he called the XM phone number provided to them for dealer use. He was told that it would take seven to ten business days, but that someone from XM would be calling me to resolve my problem. Well, as of yesterday (which was the tenth business day after the 28th), I had not heard from XM, and my NavTraffic was still not working. So, I called my dealer again, and he immediately called XM again.
This time I got a call from XM within 30 minutes of his call to them. The "customer care specialist" told me the reason I had no NavTrafiic service was that I had a three year XM Everything with Best of Sirius subscription and that their system couldn't "populate" an accompanying NavTraffic subscription. I told her that it had certainly managed to take my money for both when my trial period ended last fall. She apologized and offered me 50% off of a one year subscription along with a refund of the unused portion of the three year subscription and a credit for the time I was without the NavTraffic.
A minute later my NavTraffic was back working.
I would advise anyone having a problem not getting the NavTraffic to work to check your XM account online and then call XM. When I checked earlier this week, it only showed the XM Everything with Best of Sirius, said nothing about NavTraffic, and wouldn't offer me any option to add it. Now, after getting switched to the one year plan, it correctly shows I have NavTraffic.
Just in the last week or so, SiriusXM has gone to a new look website that allows you to sign in for either Sirius or XM. I'm guessing this changeover from the old, separate Sirius and XM websites had something to do with my situation, but who knows?

Problem is back, worse than ever...
So SiriusXM just changed their CRM software last week and now things got much worse -- apparently their NavTraffic specialists can no longer override a Radio ID as being NavTraffic capable, so after a total of 8 hours on the phone with them (plus about 4 from the dealer), all my attempts to get NavTraffic activated have failed.
I'm now following up with Porsche NA to see if they can get involved and fix this; I'm thinking a lot of new owners like me will be affected by this and hopefully they can get SiriusXM to do a "bulk update" of all radio IDs associated with PCM3 systems.

After many calls, 3 Customer Support people, many escalations and complaints and two different Customer Advocates, I finally got through to somebody who was able to fix the problem for me.
I now have NavTraffic on my PCM... finally.
