997.2 Exhaust Tips
#4
Pretty sure he's talking about 997.1tt tips versus 997.2tt tips. They are the only 997 tips that are larger .1 versus .2.

Thanks - you're correct...that's why I posted in the Turbo forum.

I believe the OP is referring to the turbo, and not the NA car.
If that is the case, then the answer is no... The .2 system is a 65mm pipe while the .1 system is a 60mm pipe (courtesy of the europipe site, thank you Stef)
Having said that, as the .1 is smaller, it is not difficult to get rings to reduce the size of the pipe by .5mm. As you can see from the attached, the tips which I ordered and installed, had such rings, which I removed as they were not necessary. they are rings which act as tightening bits as well, as they are not a full circle but rather have a cut on one side. It should be very easy to fabricate in an exhaust shop...
Why the interest? The aesthetic difference is very small, I do agree the .2 fills the bumper oval a lot better, but the overall difference is barely noticeable I think...

Rear bumper on the .2 system is not the same. The outlet for the exhaust is different. The .2 tips are much bigger. In looking at the .1 bumper and comparing it to the .2, I don't believe they will fit.
To bad and the larger tips are much better looking.

Stef was going to be my next email for this question. I had the EP on my 07 turbo - they didn't offer EP1/EP2 version early on so when I ordered on for my 08 turbo I didn't even consider the EP1. I don't think the EP2 is too loud at all and no complaints from my neighbors yet. BTW, EP2 tips are OEM tips modified to accept the larger plumbing at the outlet. Tip size is the same.

As M3 points out the next thing to check is the bumpers opening size.
It would seem to me that the opening is very close, but on the gen 1 we have a small plastic bit making the hole smaller. Look at the exhaust post from Spunky that is recent, you will see that the gen 2 doesnt have that. On the gen 1, that seems to be part of the black trim surrounding the opening, so that will need to be cut out leaving the surrounding...
Just thought of the perfect post to check the differences out, at least visually: Jasons (atomic80) rear tail light upgrade found HERE
With the permission of Jason, and to save you the trouble of scrolling, here are the most relevant pics
Thanks Jason, very helpful once again - rep pts added.
To me, the hole seems a lot bigger. The question is how much of that bigger hole do the tips fill, and if so can you squeeze them into the gen 1 opening? I would think not, but I cannot say for sure.

Stef does make bigger tips for the stage 2.
Pic from the europipe website.
The surround remains the same, however the pipe diameter changes.
I think the objective of the OP was to get an overall larger tip.
Getting the EP1 myself, hopefully soon enough... Have feared the EP2 as too obtrusive... the fewer heads turn when I drive by the better...
