David Beckhams Turbo on Ebay (Fugley)
#46
Beckham certainly has demonstrated an overly self indulgent taste in being able to vandalise expensive cars but he's obviously no fool in so far as knowing he can always rely upon there being no shortage of suckers. As the saying goes...."a fool and his money are soon parted" And this is proof positive.

Just the Facts:
MARINA DEL REY, California — The eBay sale of soccer star David Beckham's highly customized 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet for $217,000 has fallen through after the winning bidder went AWOL on the seller, Chequered Flag International.
Chequered Flag owner Neil Jaffe told Inside Line late Monday that he has pulled the vehicle off the online auction Web site after repeated attempts to contact the top bidder, Bignath679 of England, were ignored.
The California dealer also tried contacting six individuals who bid more than $209,000 for the customized matte black convertible with Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy jersey number 23 splashed all over it, but not one of them returned his calls and e-mails. Jaffe had already disqualified $2,000,000 eBay bids early in the weeklong auction.
"It really would be comical if it weren't quite so sad," Jaffe said in a phone interview. "When they don't follow through with the purchase, eBay calls it 'joy bidding.' It's really taken the wind out of my sails."
Beckham, the sole owner of the Porsche with 6,774 miles on it, purchased it new at Beverly Hills Porsche with a sticker price of $145,790. Part of the draw to bidders was that Beckham had been regularly photographed by paparazzi in the Porsche with wife Victoria, the fashionista and former Spice Girl. Jaffe estimates Beckham spent nearly $100,000 more to personalize the car.
Jaffe said that since 90 percent of the bidders were from England, where Beckham is revered, he intends to list it on eBay in the United Kingdom in approximately two weeks.
The eBay auction of the 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet had 45 bidders in all.
