Some people enjoy "blacking out" their car themselves, here Porsche is doing it for you and you dont need to spend time PM-ing vendors on the forums to get their "special pricing" and then spend hours installing it...so if this caters to one's taste why not? I am pretty sure that the 2,000 of these special ones available will be gone in no time, just like the new frozen gray M3s, people knocked that model and color on the forums to no end lol ....its like every other luxury car manufacturer trying to attact a customer niche, just because it doesnt work for your taste you can knock Porsche for putting it out there...and personally I like it .....
Holy Crap dude.....Do you work in Porsche's Inventory Department?

LMAO....

It's Black Series, not "Black Edition," and doesn't have anything to do with regard to the vehicle's exterior color. I've seen CLK63BS's in black, white, silver, and red.

So far there's been an SLK55BS (euro only), CLK63BS, and SL65BS. Rumor has it that the next will be a C63 Coupe BS... time'll tell.

Just FYI.

Yeah I know, but Black Series, Black Edition, same thing. I just never understood why Merc. calls it the Black Series when the cars come in several different colors. I'm not a Mercedes enthusiast so I never learned the reasoning for this name designation.

It's not the shade of "Black" that is referenced here...It's the SYMBOLISM of the word context.

Black is synonymous with the "ELITE":......

Agree. I recall the 996 anniversary had a crazy price tag but at least had a bit of extra performance. It didn't help much tho when 997 came out....it dropped a bundle and now has little to zero significance in the market. All these high priced end of model tart ups will take a big hit soon. Anyone want to make a wager? Not saying they aren't packaged nice.....but more than just the shine will wear off when 991 hits the deck.

I think Black Series is the performace divison of AMG, but i could be wrong. They also have a sl65 Black as well.

This is not a Carrera S. Look at the engine specs, and it specifies 345hp.

It is cheaper according to autoblog

"The Black Edition also comes bundled with a slew of optional extras, and with an MSRP of $81,300 for the coupe ($91,300 for the cabrio), Porsche says the package actually represents a $6,000 savings over equipping a base 911 with the same kit."

Yup, here in Europe it saves you quite some money as well.
It's based on a standard Carrera, not de S. For the price of the standard car, you also get:
Turbo II wheels
Bose sound system
Navigation
Park assist
Cruise control
Rain sensor

Im sure it does. And its a nice car too on todays 997 standards. But 6 grand worth of free options will become rather insignificant when the new 991 car hits print @5 months from now and wont go anywhere near where it needs to go to soften the massive $ hit when the new car comes out aug/sept. The phsycological satisfaction (for me anyway) which you may have for the space of a few months will quickly vanish....along with more than just 6 grand and options that will probably be standard equip in the new car anyway.....remember 996 to 997?
