Porsche warranty question

Porsche warranty question
I'm looking at buying an 08 turbo that has a Champion Werks 1 package that includes performance computer flash along with intake and exhaust to be around the 600hp level. My concern is how Porsche views this type of modification. Does this work void warranties?? Can i get an extended warranty??
Any insight will help with my decision to buy a modified car.

Obviously, modified parts are not covered by Porsche, but rather the manufacturer of the modification. But for everything else, the dealership has to prove that your modification caused the problem. I'm not sure how it works for extended warranties. You might be able to have some inclusions drawn up for a 3rd party warranty contract, but general 3rd party extended warranties and the Porsche CPO warranty won't be inclusive of modifications.
Good luck with your purchase! I had an '08 997TT and it was AWESOME.

I bought 08 TT with 700hp EVT and my dealer took care of me with warranty issues. The problem I'm having is my original warranty expires in 1 year. I tried getting extended warranty with no luck, they need to inspect the car.

Go to a Porsche dealer and speak to their finance person. Tell them you want to purchase an extended warranty. The costs depend on year and mileage. They don't always inspect the car. I bought one last December and they never saw my car, just my registration, insurance card and cash The good warranties are Easy Care and Fidelity. Doesn't hurt to ask but be prepared to pay between $2000-$3500 for one. You can search this forum for info on these warranties. Good luck!

By principle, no work inherently voids your warranty. Take a look at the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

If there is any kind of engine failure there is no chance of getting the warranty to cover it.
Porsche will want a download from the computer and from there they can find whatever they need, you can not hide it and the dealer has no choice or say in it.

PCNA will have the final say.

...and Champion has a very good rep within the Porsche community. You might want to speak with whoever did the original install, and talk to Justin B at Champion to get some additional answers. They are great folks at Champion. The bottom line is, it's up to the servicing dealer to make the call. Make sure they are on board before you plunk down the coin.

Again (as stated above) - only if the modification is proved to have caused the failure (i.e. an engine tune is not going to void a warranty of a failed shock, etc...).

IMO the really expensive things on the car.. i.e. transmission and engine are what you really NEED a warrantly for. Most Turbo owners can stomach a few $ here or there on repairs. But spending $15k+ for major repairs is a whole different ballgame. So the question you should be asking is .. will porsche 'TRY' to deny your warranty claim on big ticket items if they fail. Note that I make an emphasis on "TRY" because lets face it, even if you fight the denied claim and win (which is possible), you are still without a car for at least a few months while you go through the process. It just might now be worth the hassle.

Yep, I've had two motors replaced at $40-55K, one regular and one X50, and two transmissions at 15K a piece replaced in the last 4-years. Thank goodness they were stock and all under warranty...
