Tire Pressure: How Low Can You Go?
#46
1) Theory and practical TT. Theory and Practical.....and then there's application and environment. But if you and Tech 1 Mike are hell bent on welding yourselves to the deck of the titanic by believing everyone (race teams, tire manufacturers etc etc) are all out there imagining these benefits and, ill informing the public in some bid to sell a tankerload of nitrogen instead of tires thens thats fine man. Truly...its cool.
Agreed. Hard to get too worked up over an internet forum!

Here's a quote attributed to Voltaire (wrongly or rightly):
"I may not agree with you, but I will defend, 'till the last drop of my blood, your right to speak your mind"
You guys just embodied that...
Hat's off to you both.

While driving I have Flat Tyre warning, however the tires are at 33-33 front and 40-40 rear... Not sure what to do, I guess I have to stop by the dealer and see what THEY can do for me. Car is under warranty, hope they will be able to address the problem without emptying my account

TPS has the learning stage, where it tries to reset itself, however it does not work for me. Problem could be due to Arizona's high temps, never had problem with it in Montana. Will see what the Scotsdale dealer will come up with tomorrow, and post my findings.

3. Best way to set pressure, IMHO: Your car should come with TPMS standard. Read the manual and set the car to partial load, summer tire.
Then, use the differential reading (should be in the manual), set the car to +0 at all 4 wheels. This should come out to 29-30 front and 35-36 rear more or less and is your baseline. You could vary a little bit around this depending on suspension setup and personal preference.

I opt for the air plus Chardonnay. LOL...you guys are too funny. I'm running 36/44. It i a bit firm. I think I'll try to drop to 32/40 and check the ride. Problem is I'm in Park City, Utah and morning can be 40 F and evenings 85 when I come home. A cold tire is much different in 40 than in 85. Comments or thoughts?
