well, you've got me down to this.....:

after all the (good) advise above I've narrowed my "want" down to looking for one of these (pic)(pic from a Top Gear article).

PDK & Sports Chrono (plus whatever might come along, HD Nav unit is a must tho, as is Sirius..) - coupe (no cabrio) - in yellow w/black interior

the search is "on"..

Dry sump is dry sump. It either is or it aint. The 9A1 *IS* a dry sump motor period. No koolaide, just fact.

As to cost, that was part of the justification of the 9A1 engine, reduce parts count and cost. Looks like P succeeded.

Show me actual docs or pictures that prove different. I showed you the actual P literature and provided links. I've seen a 9A1 with the tank cover off, and that's all it is. A tank with some oil plumbing in it, half of it is block, half is an aluminium cover, no rotating assemblies, nowhere near them.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 997GT3RSR and all other race variants of the GT3 use the GT1 block. I don't know if you've ever been to a the Rolex 24 or any ALMS race, I can assure you they don't use the wet sump motors. Check your facts!

Also coming from a modded ///M6 to a 997.1tt ; well worth the upgrade. I was in love with the smg on the m6 and miss that high revving v10 motor, but the porsche is WAY better in any aspect of a car...unless that m5 was a daily driven family sedan, i dont suggest you put many things back in the coupe, its tight!

Yes I go to the races, Daytona, Sebring, and Homestead, when I have the time though I must admit that I don't pay as much attention to the P cars as some others.

I listened to some chatter this past Rolex24 race and heard something about a/the new engine. I could have misunderstood that.

And BTW, the new 3.8L DFI engine *IS* a dry sump engine.

No worries. The new engine in the RSR is the 4L GT1 this season, it should dominate!
