Interesting thread. I think at this point, the ring has become the "defacto" circuit where "straight up" comparisons can be made between cars. Whether I agree with that is a different story as the cars are not run by independents. We all know that much can be done to make a stock car faster around a track (e.g., fuel, tires, suspension set-up and etc.). The only way to keep it real, is to have a car bought by an independent from a dealer and run as it is sold. But then again that's just me.

This doesn't detract from the 12C's accomplishment and ultimately it comes down to a personal choice.

Having said all this, shyte, it still takes me a couple of seconds to figure out why the Tesla makes engine noises!

I'm sorry but the steaks at the restaurant you are talking about are terrible. I don't know what the hype is about, but I suppose if you aren't use to good quality beef, it may pass as good... however, in my opinion, it is awful.

I've never been to Sabine's sister's place. I also rather enjoy the currywurst in the main food court, although it can be hit or miss.

I think a lot of people may not appreciate the significance of the 'ring because they have not driven it. The ring combines so many of the difficulties and challenges of many race tracks and streets while amplifying them with super high speeds. It is popular because it is the ultimate, and driving it just once can make you a true believer. There is nowhere like it anywhere in the world, period!

I don't disagree about the steak quality. The use of the hot stone is fun though and it's such a legendary place amongst regulars that it's the environment that people love. That said it's recent expansion in size means it's lost a lot of it's character.

The problem is that in general it's very difficult to get a great steak in Europe anywhere. If you're used to good American steaks, and I've been in more places than I can remember (Mortons, Charleys etc), then you'll almost always be disappointed.

As for the MP4-12C, the quality issues will be resolved. The big point is that it's nearly as quick as a GT2RS on the track, but many times more comfortable/usable on the street. A 12C could be used to drive 1,000 miles in comfort with a wife/girlfriend, or into busy city traffic for evening. A GT2RS would just not be as suited. That's why I think the car aims for a different spot and comparison to a 458 is far more meaningful. Most 458s and MP4s will never see the track, I'd expect a lot of GT2RS to do so.

HsV laps in 7:28. What did he lap the GT2RS lapped in? Oh yeah...7:24.

Not a strong case for the MP4-12C barely beating the GT3 RS in Autocar either. Car did not look composed at all in the turns.

Maybe they meant the F1 MP4 lapped in 7:00 flat including the GP track and a stop for some tea?

BTW did Sport Auto release a video of the GT2 RS run?
