My 40th birthday gift from my wife
Hello my turbo section friends. This is my first post in this section of 6speed and what a fabulous reason to do so. Knowing my disease of Porschitis, my wife wants me to have the ultimate 40th B'day gift: A 911 Turbo. I have a decent 5% off custom build offer. This is my preliminary build. Please be aware that I am totally new to the turbos and don't have that much insight/knowledge on it.
Meteor Grey Metallic
Natural Leather in Carrera Red
Side Skirts Painted Exterior Color
Bi-Xenon(TM) headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
Sport Chrono Package Turbo Including Dynamic Engine Mounts
Limited Slip Rear Differential
7-Speed (PDK)
19" 911 Turbo II Wheel
Center Console Painted Exterior Color
Heated Steering Wheel
Heated Seats (Front)
Adaptive sport Seats
XM(R) Satellite Radio Receiver
Now for the questions.
1) I will lose money on the deal that would occur when I trade in my pristine '09 C4S but from a cost to benefit ratio do you think I would regret moving into a TT from a C4S (I know I should not even be asking this question but I really want to know given how great the C4S is the TT that much superior package or will I be saying lifelong "man it's great but not really worth the 20K that I lost on the C4S trade").
2) How does 5% off sound for a custom build ?
3) How are you all liking my performance heavy and fluff light build. Please bear in mind that all though I should have spent some time going through prior posts on this section, I have not spent any time at all. As you can imagine "too many sections to cover ... too little time". Thank you for your time and input as always.

i traded in a c4s for my 2008 turbo. i liked the power trade off but missed some of the esoteric "driveability" I liked in the c4s. I later fixed some of that
As far as I am concerned, the fewer options the better. yours look great. If you are going to track it a lot, the sport bcket seats are really nice..if you are not, stck with the adaptive seats.
congrats

My 2011 Coupe is Meteor Grey, nicest color IMO, have you seen a red interior with it?The discount seems fair in that there are'nt a lot of build slots left on Turbos. You'll never regret the upgrade. I prefer a 6 speed for now, but that's me. The S has ceramics and center locks along with the PDK, which I wanted to avoid hence my choice of a non S coupe. Sport chrono is a must, I have adaptive seats which are excellent. The "fluff" is all subjective, you must have some things on the C4S you want or don't.Think about clear tailights, leather sunvisors perhaps. But you'll love the turbo. It's my 7th 911 and they just keep getting better.....

You've got all the important options. As you said, anything more is just fluff but personally, I like fluff. Congratulations on turning 40 (I remember those days - I'll be 60 on the 29th.) & on moving up to the Turbo. It is ABSOLUTELY worth it. I think you should be able to do a little better than 5% but all areas of the country are different. I was at my dealer a few weeks ago and he said the 911s are a little weak. BTW my 60th birthday present to myself is a new 458 that is being delivered April 1st. Something I could not have done without my wife's blessing. It sure is great that we both have wives that understand our passion for cars. Then again, it is a lot cheaper to have one woman and many cars than many women and one car.

If I were you I would also price a Turbo S. For a very few more $$$ you get Ceramics. You already added alot of expensive extras that are included in the S. I did the same thing and went with the S.
Either way, awesome car and you can't go wrong!

Agree totally. There are a lot of Turbo S's at various dealers and I'm sure you can get a great deal on one. It sure is easy to help spend somebody else's money.

Get the paddle shift steering wheel. I also think you are close to an S build. You could probably get a better discount if you can find one of those on the ground with the Turbo II wheels.
I think getting an S will help resale down the road. I would get a regular turbo if you wanted the 6 spd. By the way, our car was my wife's birthday present. Congrats.

Good build. Just question yourself whether or not you may tire of the carrera red interior after some months of daily driving ownership especially if you intended on keeping it for some years.

+1 on the Red interior, that is why I asked if you had seen that combination. Ask the dealer if he has ever done one, that could get old. Part of the price/discount is what are they giving you on your trade. Factor in the sale tax differential and the deal may be better than 5%, or worse.

One questions guys. Due to the P-cars I own, I never pigeon hole myself into any camp like air-cooled vs water cooled (I love both), 6-speed vs PDK(I love both). So let me ask you this (and as I told you I would love either one and I know the choice is mine). I have mutual respect and admiration for both. If the car is not going to be a daily driver and if one is not going to track the car why not go with 6 speed and save some cash. I would love to hear your thoughts on that ?
BTW, here is some eye candy from me in return as a way of thanking you all for taking the time to help me out.

I ordered my car with a 6 speed and sport shifter, I just like a manual in these cars and that notchy feel going through the gears. I wanted to avoid center locks as i would want to be able to change a wheel without going to a dealer or buying the big wrench. PCCB's
Nice and all but necessary for a street car, nope. You can get a lot of other options in a non S and be in the 145-150K range. All these car's depreciate heavily in the first few years. Resale in a few years may hurt the S as secondary buyers may shy away from PCCB and the centerlocks. As far as PDK vs. 6 sp. your daughter or wife can drive the auto. Just depends if you want the manual or not. Either way the cars are spectacular.
Silver would look better with red IMO, maybe black dash and carpets.
Your '86 is a sweetheart! And it seems so is your wife.

Looks like a pretty good build, congrats! Now a few thoughts... consider Cocoa leather it looks really nice with Meteor, I get lots of compliments. Also you may as well get an S if you are ordering it new. And don't forget things like model designation on the console ("turbo") and head rests, door finishers in leather...I'm not sure how it is now, but in '07 each thing had to be ordered individually.

Congrats on the move to the TT, like a few members' suggestion, I'd consider the "S" model and you'll be happy with the PCCB and the added power. I went through two Pcars (09C4S & 09C2S cab) before I settled on a TT myself. Again, congrats and lets the wait begins...
