Props to TireRack yet again!

This process always ceases to amaze me. Ordered these yesterday, and they arrived this morning, less than 19 hours later including "heat cycling"! Crazy logistics.

Off to BRRacing in Los Gatos for mounting. New Suspension bits should be here early next week thanks to Mike at RSS. Alignment scheduled for the end of the week at JWE.

Looks like its all coming together and we should be ready for the 17th at Laguna!

Now we'll have to see if Enrique can pull off their prototype 997.1TT X-pipe design with LS tips in time for a testing and WOT sound checks.

Enjoy your weekend!
Cheers,
VID

Congrats on getting your car back in shape already for LS- not sure where you find all of your time! Sweet pics of the historics as well.

Picked up my buddies Road Glide on Thursday night so want to put a bit o love into that over the next few weeks and make it more of my own.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Picked my GT2 wheels up yesterday from BRRacing. They did an absolutely flawless job. Not a scratch to be found. Rims came back as clean as they went in.

Best pricing, attention to detail, and quality of work I've come across to date. I highly recommend giving them a try.

WOW! RSS sure puts out some incredible products!

These are simply amazing in person. Can't wait to get these installed and tested at Laguna next weekend!

The quality and craftsmanship is just insane. The same can be said for their engine mounts.

THANKS Mike!

LOL! It cost me a premature set Hoosiers, but yes I caved. Think you can make a play date in Setpember at Sears Point? Let me know and I can put you on the "list". Maybe you and your new toy would enjoy a long weekend in Napa? Wine Country would be a good ploy for a get away, not to mention a much need spa day while you play. : )

Yes! Willow Springs (Big Willow, not Streets). Great time. Just a bit too far of a haul to make that trip a regular occurrence (2.5-3 hours). Gonna look for some days at Buttonwillow which is considerably closer.

Driving ability (or lack of) aside, pretty sure my MPSC's are done. They had about 2-3K miles on them from a previous owner and I put on about 3K highway/city miles. Despite getting them up to temp, the rears were awfullly squirrly. So...in search of a new double duty tire setup.

For combined value and performance look no further than RE-11 or R-888.

Toyo's are at the top of my list. Personal experience with them, Barry?

Not yet on the Toyo's but they are at the top of my list too as soon as my PS2's are toast. I love the RE-11's on the track and will probably run them on the street from now on. The R-888's from all accounts are a little stickier, don't last quite as long, and have a little more tread width the RE-11's. All good things for the track.

BH, Well you know I'm a HUGE fan of the RE-11's. Not sure they can be beat as a dual purpose tire. As for the Triple Eights, I really would like to try a set of these out as well. However, I would only mount them on a "track" set of wheels. They would be ideal for the longer hauls to the track (2-3 hours away). Currently I'm addicted to my R6's and have been fortunate enough to have them arrive at every track event I have attended so far this year. For us, Thunderhill would be the track for the T8's. It requires and overnight stay. I would definitely do the T8's if I didn't have a support vehicle with me.

I hated my MPSC's. I think I got three track days out of them and maybe 1000 street miles. The car did like stepping out for no apparent reason midway through the sessions and had terrible under steer habits during the first 6 or 7 laps.

I'm glad you finally got your car out in a safe environment. Nothing like truly warm brakes and tires to experience how these cars can really perform. This simply cannot be accomplished on the street. There is just noway to get everything up to temp for maximum performance "street driving".

Time to start playing with your air pressure now!

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of a support vehicle or trailer, so HooHoos are not in the cards for me. Decided to keep the pumpkin RS wheels as my only set for now, so next set of tires will have to do double duty.
Looking at some footage from other cars that day, there was something most definitely amiss with setup. I did dial down the pressures before hitting the track to around 25(f)/28(r), aiming for 32/36 hot.
Turns 3 and 4 gave me problems all day. The slowest corners of the track but I would routinely have the rear step out on me, despite taking those turns considerably slower than other cars. Tires are fairly worn on the shoulders, but the center tread is fair. I'd have to guess these things have been heat-cycled to garbage. Damn...now I'm just ticked off that I wasted a good part of the day on shoddy rubber.

Hey BH, Just way too many variables for me to offer up any suggestions without actually being there or knowing your car suspension and tires in-depth.

One thing that comes to mind; your tires could have been just too old and dried out. Check the manufacturing date on the sidewall. You should see a number similar to this: 45/11.

The 45 stands for the 45th week within the year they were produced and the 11 identifies the actual year of production. If they are 07's-09's+...good chance they are toast. Also, you might have been just tad too low on your tire pressure.

Keep us posted on your new tire decision.
