Rain & Shine at LS with RE-11s

Okay, something completely different from me. First NASCAR event in nearly 20 years. When I first moved to CA...the first race event I attended was a NASCAR Race at Sears.
My, have times changed in the NASCAR world and at Infineon, I mean Sears, oh ...I'm sorry, I mean Sonoma Race Way. Nonetheless...still a great day. Much different scene compared to that of ALMS, Historic's, World Superbike, AMA Pro Racing, and the Indy Car scene, but still entertaining.
Give it a listen and turn up volume!

Finally had some time to publish a few videos from Harry's Lap Timer taken at Laguna Seca. Also, I have been able to figure out how to remove the entire video session from my iphone and then edit it down to the laps of interest. The plus side, I can now publish more then one lap at a time. The down side, I lost all the overlay features…ugh...!!!
Etchhead I'm sure can figure out how to overcome this obstacle, not to mention how to merge HTL and GoPro footage. Hopefully between the two of us we will have some GoPro/HLT videos to post in the near future! I did some GPH3 testing earlier this week!
Below: S2 Pre Quali 06/03/13
Below: S3 Quali 05/20/13
Below: S4 RACE FOO 06/03/13
PS: These are shot from an iPhone 4S. The actual YouTube videos/page links have brief descriptions under each.

Great laps D and glad you took care of that GTR in the quals. Now connecting older HLT files- hmmm you may need Harry to lend a hand. You will at least need to upgrade of the top HLT program to get dual camera. Then you can use the iPhone for in car or behind shots while the GP3 takes the main video ( and memory slug). Harry has a few YouTubes up on how to connect them.

YouTube Posting Test: I just posted short video on another thread and I could not get the video to view inline....only the link?
Seems to work now...I think I used the wrong Youtube link...I had originally use the link from "My video manager" and not the "live" youtube link...
Reason for posting:
So unfortunately, between work, travel, and vacations, I haven't had any time to drive my car since all the new goods have been installed. Although last week Friday I did have time to run a few errands with the beast and once she got warmed up in traffic the tranny started making a horrible rumbling noise, similar to that of a small stone tumbler. Stopped by the race shop, they took a listen and pulled the tranny out and shipped it out to Bill Rader Motorsports located in Las Vegas. He received the tranny earlier this morning, dyno tested it and then opened it up. Failures do not seem to be too terrible or costly, but the tranny will be repaired and shipped back out to CA tomorrow, installed back in the car Thursday and ready for testing at Sonoma this weekend. The worst part about this is we had this weekend set aside to test and fine tune the new suspension. Thankfully I was able to realize something was seriously wrong with the tranny before we left and BRR was able to get it resolved in a timely manner.
Bob/Cannga: Regarding tranny fluid….quoted from BRMS below:
"You cannot go wrong with the Delvac that is all I use in the cup cars and RSRs.
All of the blackness I could see on the inside walls of the gearbox was probably from the original oil the box came from then.
One thing to keep in mind with this car/box is that the oil will get a little more punished on a track use car due to the fact that it has no oil cooler."
Bob, we had put Delvac in at the start of the season, the car has seen 3,000 track miles since we changed the fluid in May, therefore due for a refreshing nonetheless. I'll have a full report of all the internal failures soon. I'll post them once I receive the final invoice.
Last track day was June third…looking forward to this weekend…I think I'm going through withdraws…although I can confirm, my bank account has seen some rather serious withdraws over the last two months, and I haven't even driven the vehicle during that time frame. Lets not forget, new rubber is needed as well for the up coming weekend.....

Plenty of time to sort it out ahead of Sears in Sept. we should try to get a track day ahead of that. In the meantime I need to sort out my own situation because of the nail on my rear. Hope you get good news on the tranny and luckily you caught it early!

EH:I'll be testing at SP this weekend, Sat & Sunday. Heading up Friday if all goes well with the tranny install tomorrow. This weekend was slated for suspension tuning after the re-build. Pretty much have to throw all the data away we have gathered so far this year and start all over! Yeah...not!
SP is my favorite track, looking forward to running there two days straight and gaining knowledge. Hopefully everything will go as intended.

After three months of down time and complete chaos with this beast, it finally made a weekend of set-up and testing (at Thunderhill). Overall things went really well other than HLT puking out on me after S1. Things only got better after this.
FYI: On track the Numeric Shifter is magical, not to mention the Aasco LWFW. Unfortunately the Ohlins Suspension…even after the rebuild and Dyno testing…is still going to need to be re-valved to get the chassis to my liking. We have maxed out the settings and I still feel too much chassis movement and body roll.
PS: I'm not a morning person....

Thanks for the transmission fluid rec. My tuner recently changed it but I don't think it is the Delvac that you are recommending. Next time.
Numeric: Is shift from 1 to 2 less notchy now? Any adjustment that you've had to do?

Hey Can, Thanks! These toys are so much fun on the track....I really hate driving on the street. Its just not a very enjoyable arena for me. Same goes for motorcycles....closed course or no course.
Delvac is a heavier fluid, meaning its designed to be run under more extreme temperatures. It may not be necessary for street use or canyon driving.
Numeric: First and Second really do not get used at all on the track. I will say its very nice that to go from third to second it does take some effort...therefore, its pretty hard for one to miss shift from lets say, fifth to second....or third to forth.
Things seem to be back in order and the car is running and handling very, very well....just a bit more fine tuning with the suspension and I should be happy for a while...I hope!
I'll post a GoPro in car video shortly...
Cheers,
VID
