PCNA SURPRISE IN THE MAIL TODAY:

This is probably one of the nicest gifts PCNA has sent me in their efforts to persuade me into buying a 991 model of any type. Packaging was top shelf throughout....very impressive. But now that I'm looking at this small sculpture, I see a very heavy resemblance to a 996 TT.

I think I'll be sticking with my 09 997.1TT for a few more years yet. That's not to say a 991 non-turbo model may end up in the garage at some point in the near future.

Received mine last week. Certainly a lot nicer than the lucite '50 years of Porsche' doo-dad.

^^^ Indeed...that was rather disappointing as was the 997.2TT pewter engine casting.

Would have preferred a nice Porsche Design Pen.

Hope all is going well Barry!
Best

Received mine today as well. Very impressive however I'm sending it back to Porsche with a letter stating I will buy one once they offer a manual tranny!

Okay, NorCal is a bit of a anomaly. My daughter had a play date tonight and when her mother (friends mother) came over this evening she told me about a hike in the Santa Cruz mountians she took the other day and mentioned she saw some crazy Porsche…"GT or something or other, it was like a real race car"…see image below….WTF…Where was I that weekend…Frickin Santa Barbra and Ojai.

Unbelievable, Alice's (the sighting spot) is 20-30 minutes from our SJ residence.

Just dropped in some super cool and a extremely simple DIY LED Rear Smoked Tail Lights by MaxSpeed Motorsports. These look amazing in person, especially from behind. The smoked lenses on Atlas Grey actually make the car look lower and wider!!! They are a bit heavier than the all red OEM units. I'll be keeping both. Kind of nice to change the look of the vehicle so quickly and easily...this is about a 10 minute task start to finish, if that.

No codes and no resistors needed!!!!

"My" 918 would come with auto-deployed pylons LOL.

Just screwing around with photoshop last night...thought I'd share...

While after taking a two month break on my pocket book, it was time to bring her in for her annual track maintance and initial prep work to start another season of fun and frustration. After a couple years of way too many tire/rim changes the lug threads began to stretch from being torqued down more often than a typical DD machine. I have replaced my lugs a few times throughout the course of ownership. However, this time I decided to make my life a little bit easier and had some real wheel studs bolts installed. These are the same studs used on NASCAR's….super strong…but still recommended to change yearly when tracked on a regular basis. No more stud locator pins needed and much quicker therefore, easier wheel changes await me for 2014!

Do you use your TT as a DD? And if you do how many miles are you driving annually discounting tract miles?

Hey Jason,

Did you have different length studs installed up front or did you have the same length on all four corners? When you have a second can you post a picture of your fronts. Just curious how far they stick out from the rim face.
Thanks, D

Dr Sullivan,

I'd like to say its a DD'er , for about a year it truly was a DD machine as we were down a vehicle in the stable. However, my commute is very short...I work from home...therefore it sees a quick trip to Starbucks most mornings. That being said, its primarily a weekend track toy that I can drive back an forth to events and whenever I want in between events. I average 7,400 miles a year on her. If I had to guess, I'd say roughly < 1,200 are spent DD'ing (not including driving to the tracks).

Okay, finally starting off our season! Last race was just before Thanksgiving (2013). Since then work, holidays, and family travel has had its effects. Although between now and then I have attended two events trying to get in on cancellations and mechanicals. Which have both failed me. Oh well... I am currently locked in to a private track/practice day before our first "official" race day in 2014. Definitely looking forward to 2014!

Nice to get back out there huh? just got back from VIR after a 7 month hiatus. Chuckled at your post above about giving your wallet a rest. I did the same, however that was short lived. Got a nice 11K bill before the VIR event. Got a call last night that rear axle is showing signs so of course will do both. Also rear rotors and by end of 2nd day was hearing a crunch every time i went into 3rd gear. I guess i can expect another doozy of a bill. Oh well.

^^^^ Expletive, it never ends, does it! I almost jumped for joy when the estimate for my pre-season prep and repairs was going to be less than $5K. We must all be delusional......
