Rain & Shine at LS with RE-11s
#91
Okay its been a while since my last posting here.
First of all, what prompted this posting has to do with my "music picks for the day".
Google/iTune these two guys: 2 Cellos...pretty cool stuff.
Got a little fresh air coming into my rear end, plus a few other little goodies, and yet again another ECU tune / upgrade.
Upcoming track dates, Laguna Seca March 12th, 29th, and April 9th to start the season off. Lets hope for dry sunny weather this year as apposed to all the LS rain dates I had for 2011.
Cheers,
VID997

Looks awesome! So your getting another healthy bump in power/torque with this and the flash right? Glad to see the March 12th LS date- should be a good time. As you recall the last time we were there my day was cut short with a right rear tire flat (internal sidewall broke down). My first run-in with the MPSCups- honestly glad to have them off the car. Let's see how my budget V12s hold up against the mighty RE-11 setup you have. I will however be running with the corked up stock exhaust (with drilled hole mod). Will you be doing anything different for sound check?

Thanks EH, can't wait to get the goods installed!
Just picked my car up yesterday from its 20K service appointment and now I have to schedule a brake flush/fluid change at JWE. Should be good to go after that. Hopefully I can get some of my goodies installed before the 03.12.12.
Let's hope your V12's do the trick...only time will tell. As for my sound issues; well it will be my turned up ghetto tips, lifting, and short shifting coming out of T5 for me.
Crossing my fingers for dry weather so I don't even have run the RE-11's. My poor R6's saw very little use last year and are feeling quite neglected

D,
that looks ghetto-ish. Hope that works for you! Can you tell the difference between the stock intakes and the new Werks one you just got?
And in the very first post of your cars on the track. Is that you driving? I'm guessing you had someone take those pictures of you?

Bummer!! !!
RE-11's are now available in 245/35/19
I think this size could be beneficial for decreasing understeer which our cars are prone to have. I've been wanting to try this up-front for quite sometime but could never find a matching set/brand to fit in this combination (245/35/19 with 305/30/19).
I had read somewhere on 6speed over the weekend that Super Sports were now available in GT2 sizes (245's & 325's) at TireRack...thought I'd check the RE's as well...sure enough there they were. I guess now we'll just have to wait for Bridgestone to release 315's for the rears. That could be the perfect all-around set-up.
This sucks, I just bought new tires a couple weeks ago...oh well...

I talked to our local Bridgestone rep late last year and mentioned it would really be nice if the had a 245/19 and 315/19 or 325/19 in the RE-11. He said there was talk that they would be available in early spring. I guess he wasn't BS'ing me.
I love the RE-11's except the 305 has less tread width than most other 305's. I think 325 would be perfect if it fits inside the fender.

Hey Barry,
I totally agree with you regarding 325's on our GT2/GT3RS wheels, being that they are 12.0" wide. My RS171's are 11.5" and the RE-11's 305's do not look quite as wide as the 305 CUP's I had mounted at one point.
Its funny though the Hoosier R6's 235/35/19 run totally wide. I would not put a 245/35/19 on my 8.5" GT2 front wheels....245 or 255 R6's I feel will need a 9.0-10.0 front wheel with custom offsets.
Ed, yes beaten to death. Main issue was Fred was running 20.0" rims with a even lower profile, thus rotations per mile were way off front to back...pushing the envelope can be costly. However, better to be safe then sorry. Be realistic, and weight your consequences before forging into the great unknown. (I know you aren't going down that road, but you are just offering advice for the onlookers).

Daren
I just skimmed thru Fred's original thread and there's no mention of the diameters he was running. Indirect references were made that the problem was caused by 315/19, not 20. So...I remain confused.

This was when he did it on a Turbo with 20's not the GT3RS. There are several of these (ratio threads) floating around...I got lost a few times as well trying to sort it all out.

D,
that looks ghetto-ish. Hope that works for you! Can you tell the difference between the stock intakes and the new Werks one you just got?

Not sure where you and I left off last...???
I think I mentioned I haven't installed the goods yet, but they will require a new flash. Therefore, I'm sure I will notice a difference. Every time I have received a ECU upgrade from Champion its been NOTICEABLE.
As for the first image...yeah, I haven't quite figured out the timing and triggers yet to take pictures of my car while its in motion because I'm always driving it in the action shots.
Track shots (motion) are compliments of Dito at "gotbluemilk". He is a great guy and I have talked him into staying at several rain day events because in the end I new the results would be worth it.

Well things didn't go as smoothly as anticipated and they were not able to finish things up today.
Plenum & GT3 Throttle Body installed. As you can see there isn't much room to fit this thing in there.
Y-Pipe looks great and the fit is amazing. The engine compartment on these cars has little to be desired as far as visual stimulation. Might have to pop for a TurboS Carbon fiber Airbox cover to finish things off in here. Don't worry a BMC panel filter will be fitted upon finishing the job.
A little more AIR can never hurt.
And for Monday a BBI light weight underdrive pulley.
Plop in the new FLASH/ECU and she'll be good to go...still a few more things to come. Stay "tuned"
