Dark997 is infamous around these parts
My mechanic managed to install it on my 08 tip with no big issues. I bought a used 2010 PDK paddle shift wheel, put the trim @ parts on the Agency one, got the airbag + matching control unit from Porsche, then worked through the programming process. Works and shifts perfect with no warning lights etc. total cost was $3K Canadian.

Due to popular demand we are updating this post, thanks to all of you who consider Suncoastparts.com your main Porsche parts source.

First thing to do when planning to update your 997.1/987.1 steering wheel to a paddle style steering wheel is to find a shop that will be able to perform the install. Sounds simple, but many Porsche dealers will not try this upgrade because it is not authorized by Porsche. This forum might be the a great source to find the right shop who will perform the work.

After you find the right shop, you will need the following items: new steering wheel, airbag and often times a steering column control unit.

The control unit is here:

Note: Control unit, steering wheel and airbag must be programmed by a Porsche dealer with a PIWIS Tester.

airbag is:

and the steering wheel is:

-Do you have an 07-08 Turbo? (https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...nic-turbo.html)

-09 TT from what we have read works Post # 4 https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...l-997-1-a.html

-Install Guide on an 09 C4S https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-2009-c4s.html

-You will lose Multifunction

-MT Sport Steering wheel (no paddles) much easier install over tiptronic https://www.suncoastparts.com/product//480GTSL.html

-Control module is for the horn to work technician must upload info from old module and download to new module with PIWIS Tester

-May be able to switch a setting to "Multifunction" and bypass the new control module purchase (not tested)

Because this is not an authorize Porsche modification there isn't an install guide and the items are non-returnable so please do your own research before purchasing the items.

If you would like to go ahead with the order, click on the links above and add them to your shopping cart, online ordering is the best way to process orders.

2009 TT w Tip

I agree that the OE wheel puts my hands/fingers right where they should be. However, has anyone looked into simply making some new switch buttons that would replace the OE ones? After all, we are still just moving a switch button a fixed distance just a different way of actuating it. We don't quicken the shift or increase performance. I would like some nice aluminum switches that take the place of the OE switches but have paddles on them. I would like to have them on the lower part of the wheel so I can use my ring finger and pinky to pull towards me. Oh ya, you will need to change the wires around so pulling the left paddle downshifts & pulling the right paddle up shifts. Please realize I have giant hands that won't be happy in any other position. Any thoughts ?

Here at Suncoast we do not manufacture any parts, we are a dealer and order our parts directly from Porsche.

Hopefully someone else on the boards can chime in and help with your request.

Suddenly in the mindset and market to do a conversion on my 997.1 Turbo. I would like to see the options and what is necessary to perform this project.
