Anyone drives a Panamera Turbo along with the 997tt

The new Panamera Turbo "S" is going to be one heck of car . I sometimes think to myself "is it worth it to trade both my M3 , and my 997S , and add about 70K " to buy one ?

I hesitate . At least for now.

I would keep my 997tt . As most know .. I hardly drive my 997tt so that every mile is savored and plan to keep it for many more years .

The new Panamera can give quite a run and the "S' will have even 50 more HP . I was hoping to hear from those who either have both, plan on getting both, or have at least tested both to compare .

I found this quite interesting.

kcturbo is infamous around these parts
I have a 2008 997 TT Cab and a 2010 Panamera turbo. I love both cars. The Panamera is my DD and the 997 gets driven mainly on the weekends (and some evenings) when the weather is nice. Even though the cars are quite different, I do not feel cheated driving the Panamera vs. the 997 TT.

I put winter tires on the Panamera last winter and it performed very well in the snow. Not as well as my RS6 which the Panamera replaced, but I think this was more a function of tires than anything else.

I am glad to see the arrival warm weather so I will get a little more seat time in the 997

Why not just get a standard turbo with a tune? You'll have 30 more horses and a lot more money in your pocket

The new Turbo"S" has everything i want (more Hp, leave it stock. all the performance options beyond the power kit , drive it daily ) .

The hardest part for me is that I am not ready to sell the 997S and still have about 1 year on the M3 warranty so I have time even with that car pushing 35K miles but trouble free . The Panamera Turbo S is yet another expensive car in a city filled with a lot of minimal skill drivers . The M3 is a very worry free car (just a spicier 3 series with a bump on trhe hood ) .

If I wait and just trade the M3 and keep the 997S .. I'd have to either get a Panamera S or another M3 .
To get the Turbo S I'd have to sell the 997S so if it's not incredible -- I won't buy it .

That's why I'm posting now because I need time to hear more on the car , how it compares with those accustomed to already having 997tt .

I have both but both are modded. I had the Panamerra modded to increase WHP and TQ by 60 and 75 respectively. The 997TT Tip is ~ 685 WHP on 93.
I love the Panamerra! It is a beautiful car, handles very well, and is very fast. They are both a blast to drive but of course the 997 is much quicker, handles better, etc.

By the way I traded in a modded and VERY fast CTSV for the Panamerra and although not as fast the ride and handling puts the Caddy on the backshelf.

Larry, you have a fleet of great cars. If it was me, I would hold off on the Panamera Turbo S for now.

Few thoughts and questions to think about in this situation, but nothing you haven't already asked yourself.

1. Do I need a car that can carry 4 people? Am I in the business of hauling people around?

2. If yes...do I intend to drive to the limits with 4 people on board or would it just scare them to death? If somebody wants a fun ride, they would have more fun with a dedicated experience in the modded turbo. (could a regular S or 4S do the trick, keeping the 997 turbo as the thrill ride)

3. Porsche makes so many great cars, that I respect their ability to create these machines, but unless it's either a collector I want to keep for a long time, or my personal 2 seater for my own enjoyment, I will appreciate and respect their machines from a distance (my pocket book tells me so).

4. Saving your cash for now, you could eventually trade in your 997S and M3 to get a nice 991 replacement in a year or so. This is assuming you don't need to provide transport to a lot of people. Potential for having more excitement and enjoyment out of a 991S here pretty soon, allowing you to own and experience all of the enhancements, while still having your beautiful 997 turbo. (as opposed to buying the 4 seater).

5. The quest for the 3.8 RS concluded in a "hold for now" decision. If I remember, the collectibility of the car was a big "pro" for the 3.8...now they have the 4.0, although in limited quantity. THAT would obviously be the collector car, but I know it's changing the game on this entire decision bc your turbo (rightfully so) is a long term keeper.

Good luck with your decision, and have fun with the process!

Wow - great post and after about two days of thinking and lloking at inventories I am on the same page with this thought process .

I realize that at some point I have to replace the M3 but i just can't bring myself to sell the 997s . You are correct about saving the money too because lately the level and courtesy of drivers in this city almost makes a nice car seem fragile . Driving an expensive car daily sounds great in fantasy but the reality is much like you said : !) I don't need to haul 4 people to the cars limit. and 2) it's not a 911 car.

I did hold off on the RS . It is incredible how these cars stir the emotion but there has to be some practical balance before buying one.

I still don't know what i will get when the M3 gets closer to 50K miles and off warranty .

I read trhe other replies too .. what's not to like about thse cars . I even like the way it looks (contrary to some who find the rear end a topic of controversy) .

I guess before I flat out say no to the car I have to get the full use out of my current cars but by then a new 911 will probably capture more interest .

Thanks for the replies to all .
It was good to think more on this .

I think you should really evaluate what you are looking for. If you want a sportscar and dnt care that it is noisy and the ride is rough, but on some occasions need the space and comfort or just ride hight due to snow in winter, keep the 997 TT and buy a Cayenne turbo.

If you are however looking for a compromise in one car of the two above mentioned cars, then I would be looking for a Panamera turbo. With the S or powerkit, it will be as fast as the 997 tt in a straight line.

Here we have a lot of snow and sometimes need more space, so I am looking at the Panamera turbo now because of the extra size. The 997tt hasent proven itself as a daily driver winter car.

You need to know what you really want before buying the car, I think a 997TT + Panamera turbo combination is not the best combination.

Good luck whatever you choose!
