RENNtech Muffler bypass for the 997.2 TT
RENNtech is pleased to announce our muffler bypass exhaust system for the 2010-up 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S models.
Our proprietary muffler bypass exhaust system is the answer to the inherently quiet factory and aftermarket exhaust systems currently on the market. As many of you know, the variable turbocharger itself acts like a muffler and when coupled with even a cat bypass sport muffler, is still fairly reserved and quiet. This vehicle came to us for a solution after two completely different exhaust systems were installed on the vehicle
Our muffler bypass exhaust removes the bulky factory exhaust system (saving nearly 40 lbs of weight behind the rear axle) and utilizes 200 cell HJS tri-metal sport catalytics with center muffler bypass pipes. The result is a dramatic reduction in rear vehicle weight which produces and intoxicating sound both at idle and wide open throttle, which is loud, but results in no drone or resonance in the cabin, even at highway cruising speeds in top gear.
Since this system utilizes 200 cell sport cats and retains both pre and post catalytic oxygen sensors, this is a bolt on exhaust system which is emissions compliant and does not require an ECU upgrade. This exhaust also reuses the factory tips or any aftermarket tip designed to work with the OEM system
Gains:
Our 997.2 Turbo test vehicle gained an additional 19 Hp and 15 lb/ft of torque over the previous aftermarket sport muffler/ catalytic bypass combination that was installed on this vehicle when it arrived to us.

Anybody try this yet? I'm looking for more exhaust noise that can be reverted back to stock. I'm also curious to know how much HP over stock on the Turbo S. But also, to remove 40 pounds of weight in the rear, 40 pounds of weight in the front (lightweight racing lithium battery) would lighten up the car about 80 pounds and reduce polar inertia.
