Turbo or Turbo S

pdk tt I fell in love with the torque ... and ease to drive spirited
I even considered a miata to get the urge to shift out of my system. fun on a different level, but these cars are a bit anemic.

Personally, I would get the non S 6 speed and use the difference in price to mod the car. I have the PDK in my Panamera 4S. It was cool to play with in the beginning, but I got bored with it pretty quick. I don't even use the manual mode anymore. It certainly shifts much quicker than I possibly can, but I still prefer to row my own gears in my 997tt. Just my preference...

That's how I started the journey. First looking at and driving GT3 and GT3 RS. Definitely fun to drive. But a bit harsh on the road. After driving the

Currently I am torn of whether I should get the GT3 RS or the TTS, I change my mind daily. I only got to drive each of them for a short drive in downtown LA, so no curvy roads or long straigts.
Enjoy your new TTS!!!

I would have bought TT-S if it was available with 6 speed manual. Drove PDK for 8 months - would never buy it again. If one day I am forced to drive automatic because manuals cars are not any more available I may as well choose Toyota Camry and use it as a cheap appliance.

Having the ferrari with paddles...there's no way I would get a 911 with PDK. It's not nearly as engaging for my tastes and if the 458 came with a stick I would have gotten it.
I modded my turbo and love it.
But every one has their own preferences based on how they drive the car, etc.

I went to buy the TT and I drove the 6 speed and loved it. I was amazed at how the car felt connected to both the road and me. I had driven a Ferarri California earlier in the day and was disapointed in the seat compared to what I was expecting. I priced the TT P car with options and when I was done the only thing missing was PCCB? Adding them to the TT was a few thousand dollars less than gettng the S. I drove it and expecienced the PDK and fell in love with the went for the S and I do not regret it for a second. This car is like a tiger by the tail-So much power that you need to respect it and the PDK is equally great in heavy traffic and in spirited driving. PDK or the next great automatic will replace the manual. I never expected to get an "automatic porsche". But when you drive it, you will be blown away. I am sure some pure-ists will argue or disagree. Drive both and decide. Dont let anyone else influence you, its your $, get what you want and what makes you happy. BTW-Ferarri no longer offers a manual to the best of my knowledge.

When I was buying the car i was looking only for 6spd TT, because I've read about pdk problem when modding the car, and i was going to tune the car seriously.
But i found nice turbo S in stock, so decided to buy it. And i can say - I'm not dissapointed in any way.
6spd car is much slower than pdk car, so when the pdk kit will be made, on the same mods pdk turbo s will be much faster than tuned TT 6spd.

I am looking to purchase a Turbo/S. Found a Turbo in the color I like. I am torn if I should spend the additional approx. $20,000.00 for a Turbo S
Will I forever regret not to have bought the S
Any considerable power differences in sprited road driving between the the two? Any input appreciated.

We tested 2 PDKs and 2 Turbo Ss and PDK gets about 400~420WHP while the S gets 475WHP. And I'm talking about the same exact dyno at the same exact location and time.
So, unless for two reasons below, get the S!!!!
(1) I MUST get the 6 speed manual.
(2) I do NOT wish to add hardly ANY options.

The most reasonable and sensible answer yet.
But not what I wanted to hear...

I have never modded a car yet and always have prefered bone stock. However, maybe I should broaden my horizon and look into this.

Yes, shifting gears is definitely more fun but for the new gen turbo or turbo s the PDK is the perfect tranny for it. As much as I like rowing gears I would never consider getting the the new turbo with manual. The PDK really takes this cars performance to levels I could never achieve on my own (many magazine reviewers felt the same way).

I have to agree that pdk and torque and turbo are an intoxicating combination.
Been down the same road considering the GT3 RS. But even though I still get up sometimes early in the morning for some unobstructed SoCal mountain driving (amazingly quiet out there during weekday mornings), I don't think I could do the GT3 justice.

The GT3RS which I tested shifted wonderfully and the clutch did not feel heavy it felt perfect, and my shifting was very smooth, either driving it hard or easy. Maybe in heavy traffic the clutch would start to be heavy.

So, for N/A cars, PDK is just a little faster than manuals. But for turbo cars, PDK is a LOT faster so comparing the Panamera to a 911 Turbo will net a totally different story.
