'08 911 tt
Hi,
Looking at a used '08 911 TT. It has some after market mods: Bilstein Suspension, Cargraphics Exhaust, Heim End links, GMG Sway Bars, and Champion Wheels. It's a fairly loaded car with ~9,000 miles. The DME comes back with 2283 394.9h Range 1 and 207 394.9h Range 2 over revs and 0 in Range 3-6. Operating hrs is 397.
I'm concerned about the aftermarket mods. Anyone familiar with this car/setup? Anything I should be worried about?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
G

Looks like you may have found a winner.
Mileage is very good. At 9000 miles the engine is hardly broken in.
Over revs in range 1 and 2 are nothing to worry about. 0 over revs in range 3 to 6 is excellent.
Mods:
1) Bilsteins are pretty much industry standard. If properly installed they are great.
2) Cargraphic exhaust is ok. There are better but there are much worse.
3) GMG sway bars are world class.
4) CMS wheels are also some of the best out there. Strong and light.
5) Heim end links I am not familiar with, but judging by the previous owner's other selections, they should be pretty good.
In short, if the car has the right color/options for you and is priced right, I would jump on it.
Good luck.

Agreed, sounds like a great car. As in my sig, I'm personally a fan of cargraphic. Did a ton of research and auditions and really enjoy the new sound. Great suspension upgrades as well, and that's an extremely clean dme. well done.
If you're still worried, look for a stock turbo for sale, drive it, and I imagine you'll then jump back to this 08 turbo. As already said, if it's the color combo you like, no reason to pass it up.
One other thing to think about is the factory installed options, and if it's what you are looking for.
good luck and let us know what you decide!

Hi All,
Thank you all for the great responses! They are asking for $110K, which is in the range of the '09 911 which comes with the upgraded PCM (Navi, Bluetooth, iPOD, etc...). I think it's priced a bit high, but since it has many mods, I can't say for sure.
I will take all your inputs and carefully consider the options.
Many thanks for all your help again!

Hey no problem.
However, if you take what LosPer paid for his 08 and subtract that from the asking price of the car you're looking at, you arrive at the premium they are asking for yours, $110K-$88K = $22K!
The mods on that car are nowhere near the $22K range.
Just my $.02.
Good luck with the hunt!

k_ddsl - Thanks again for the quick response! My sentiments exactly... Another thing I'm a bit concerned is that the original parts are not available anymore. How much do you think the mods would have cost?
Also, just out of curiosity, does it make sense to find an independent car shopt to do a PPI on a car that is already CPO?
Many Thanks again!

1- Bilsteins about $3K
2- Exhaust about $5K
3- Sways about $700
4- Heim Joints about $100
5- CMS Wheels about $6K
Total: about $15K
Remember, this is when completely new. You're buying used now so factor at least 30% off and you're talking maximum value to you of about $10K.
Doing a PPI on a CPO'ed car is I think unnecessary unless you have a reason not to trust the dealership. To become CPO'ed, the car goes through Porsche's 111point check and anything found below par will be replaced.

Similar mods to mine and I can confirm that my car is the best 997 I have ever driven (and I have driven all of them apart from a GT2RS)
By the way, stock/factory suspension is bottom of the range Bilstein. You should check that the PASM button still works though as there are 2 types of upgraded Bilsteins, with and without.
