Question on Coils...

Just had the coils replaced on my '07 turbo and the codes on the original parts state "996". Did they re-use the 996 coils on the early 997.1 tt's?

I think they are all the same because the engine is basicly the same between 996tt and 997tt. If you look into it deeper, there are alot more parts have 996#

Yeah, that's what I figured, but as the replacement coils I bought are 997 - it struck me that the 2007 factory ones were 996... guess somewhere along the line they must have made a switch.

Coils keep getting updated #s not sure if that means yours are older but see if this # makes sense... I just replaced my coils and this is the brand and actual # on the coil ( they did have a 997 # on the box)

That info will be on the top side of the coils

Please tell me you replaced the plugs at the same time???

Yup, plugs and coils replaced... why would one just replace the coils?
Had some serious issues with misfires which prompted the "operation".
Now finding that the clutch needs replacing... it's one thing after another. LOL
So looking for a Sachs Stage II to handle the power I'm putting out.

Can't remember the exact exact number but yes, they were the new 997 coils that went in. Just took me by surprise that the originals had a 996 # on them.

Hey Bob, wish we would have gotten to speak, but yeah thanks for all your help and advice, it was just weird for me since I did the plugs about 10xxx miles before so I didnt expect them to go bad so quickly. This time around due to the tune I went with one step colder plugs and hopefully I can make these last a bit longer

Again thanks for all your help, btw I am becoming a pro on the plug install, down to 4 hrs

Ran the car all weekend with no issues

Sorry I missed you.

I've just been crushed on call over the last several days.

Glad things worked out.
