Here is some data comparing "stock" to lightly modded 997tt. My car isn't "bone stock" as it has Stage II.5 clutch, AWE Gen 2 exhaust, gapped-down spark plugs, 997.2tt intercoolers. Take the info for what it is - it's not the absolute best I could do but I wasn't going to risk a "money shift" for the sake of better data I did my best to match conditions but it wasn't practical to find identical conditions (it was actually a bit cooler for the stock numbers). Some of the numbers don't make sense (for example the result with sport mode on) but it's related to slightly different elevation and conditions (and shoes! I had Birkenstock's on today). I'll do my best to update the numbers as soon as I get a chance to repeat the sport mode Proto numbers. I'll be putting on the modded turbos in the next few weeks so I'll update the numbers then also. Here they are:

Awesome data Asher. Nice improvements with the tune and the numbers seem to correlate pretty well with your AUCs. Thanks for posting. Now, if you upgrade those gunboats (Birkenstocks) you'll pick up another tenth...

Thanks for posting but I was hoping to see better numbers than that Asher, particularly to the 100. What were your RPM's at the shift points?

Sorry to disappoint you Paul but let me explain a bit - I took the opportunity where I saw it by jumping on the brakes and once the speed was below 60mph I stomped on the gas. So it didn't really give the car time to build boost before starting the clock. No doubt the times could be better but sometimes you just accept what you can get. I'll work on more accurate Proto sport mode times. And the outside temp is 10-15 deg F hotter now than when I did the stock times. And the Birkenstock's really slowed me down! Using the butt-o-meter as you know the tuned car is like an animal compared to stock so the numbers don't tell the whole story.

Oh, I shifted out of third as soon as I saw 100mph flicker by on the speedo although I should have just used the buzzer on the pbox. I only did this b/c I wanted a true 3rd gear reading. For the best times it's probably more appropriate to do a separate 60-100 and 62-125 (100-200km/h) rather than the way I did it. But again, it's just "fyi" data, it's not going to blow anyone away.

No dissapointment really. Did you use the roll out feature at all? Also you didn't mention what your rpm shift points were, ie: did you go all the way to redline on every change?

Edit: What was the temps at the time?

How would the roll out feature work for a rolling 60-XXX run? I thought this was only used from a dead stop ala drag racing?

Yeh know what you mean Ed but I didn't know if boggy had done any zero to 100kph runs as well....so was a general question...hoping to get a response based on whether he'd used the 1 foot roll out feature at all during any time trials involving a standing start ......and any numbers that went with that.

No rollout feature engaged (or needed here I think). I should've been more clear - 100mph comes up in 3rd at about 6800rpm or so. Between watching out for LEO, keeping the car straight, and trying to watch the speedo/tachometer (I should've just engaged the buzzer on the pbox every time) it may not have given the real result. I may have actually shifted before 100mph which would affect the result. If you're trying to get the best 100-200km/hr you would shift out of 3rd sooner than I did due to the powerband of the car. But I just wanted to be consistent for the comparison b/w stock and tuned car so I did it more or less the same way each time. The times for Proto tuned in sport mode can be improved upon b/c I had turned around on the highway and was going up a slight uphill instead of a slight downhill for the non-sport numbers. I'll see what I can do about that.

Oh, it was about 74F or 22-24C today and humid (don't know if humidity makes a difference)

No I didn't. I'm just not all that slick off the line and I rarely take off at max acceleration off the line. I should practice though so I don't get dusted by a soccer mom in a Cayenne turbo at the light.

I just went back to my other posts from another thread and realized that the stock times listed above were when the ambient temp was in the mid-40s F, which is quite different than the mid-70s today. I could flash back to stock and check the stock tune times in mid-70s but life's too short!

I was hoping you had some times on that but no worries. It is kind of savage off the line isnt it . Things move pretty fast so its hard to keep watch on everything like tach, speedo plus keep the wheel straight while watching out for impending LEO's. Time trialing certainly has its risks .

I edited the first post to show the 3.7s 60-100mph in sport mode with Proto tune (from the previous 4.2s). It was even on a bit of an uphill. I wasn't able to get an updated 100-200k yet.

I edited the first post to show a 60-100mph of 4.1s (previously 4.3s) in 4th gear sport mode, and 100-200k of 7.1s (previously 7.4s) also in 4th sport mode.
This will be the last of the numbers until the upgraded turbos go on. As I mentioned before, the conditions weren't identical between runs but the general trend can be noted. I tried to show real-world performance to show what it would be like if you were cruising in Mexico and a Viper/Vette/minivan pulls up to you and you decide to run. If you really wanted the best times then I think the best way is to slow down to 5-10mph below your lower target (e.g. 90km/hr for a 100-200km/hr run), nail it and shift at 5800-6k rpm for a 3-4th gear run for the best time. The numbers don't really do justice to the increased midrange punch with a good tune.
