Thumbs up My Champion GT2 3.8 Build

Tom has posted two or three threads related to my car but this is the latest information.................................

My GT2 project is moving along (http://championmotorsportonline.net/?p=1404) and I will have plenty of power to play with. Also included is a full GT2RS body kit (including additional CF not found on the RS), suspension, the new Forgeline 18" GA3R's Wheels w/R888's. There are some other goodies that I feel I am not at liberty to divulge but if they prove to be successful I anticipate a notable change in the way some may approach putting the power to the ground. I have been involved in several extensive builds but never experienced the total dedication to excellence that Champion has applied. They have drawn people into the build with more than extensive experience in the racing community only increasing the attributes I have requested such as streetability, reliability, durability, and performance (engine, power train, and suspension)...........all leading to many years of fun and dominance. I realize there are some other builds I will never compete with and this is not my goal. However, the car will prove to be a force to be reckoned with. If I ever want more power the build leaves plenty of room to apply larger turbos ( I am using 68mm VTG's). We did however add the infamous CF manifolds, a modified crank shaft, upgraded cam shaft, ported heads, CI sleeves, Mahle pistons et al, and Mahle 100% custom push rods, dual valve springs, a fuel system capable of supplying more than what is currently required. The car should be on the dyno by this months end and I am sure Champion will post the results. I commend Champion crew as it has been a true team effort from top to bottom. The committment to delivering the very best is evident and for this I am more than appreciative. I am sure I have not posted all the "goodies" they have been included in this build but will once complete only limited by those Champion categorizes as proprietary.

BTW: We anticipate a maximum 875 WHP and slightly more torque with a redline approaching 8000 RPM's.<!-- / message --><!-- edit note -->

Some Pics

There are, of course, many more but this are some key elements in the build. The wheel finishes are exactly as ordered.

Shadowman30 is infamous around these parts
Sound impressive

Will new CF intake manifold take the power to 8000rpm?

I know the power with 997tt manifold will drop after 67-6800rpm and with gt3 intake manifold ( which is damn huge ) it will extend to 7500rpm.

Goodluck

Following extensive testing by independant labs Champion stands behind the ~8000 RPM redline. Of course unknowns after install my raise new challenges but I feel confident all will be as promised. There is a post by Tom@Champion showing the graphs versus GT3, 997.1, GT2 manifolds and the flow of their CF unit was, in some cases, significant and greater in all.

Until you look at every picture, you can not fully understand the level of quality, craftsmanship and thought being put into this amazing, amazing build....Its one thing to tell a shop to build you a car with XXX HP, hand it over to them and recieve it back fully completed. But its another to actually see every aspect being addressed and how. And from what it all looks like start to finish. To me, this really makes you appreciate the build on an entirely new level... I am simply blow away. Congrats to you on this spectacular build and car... And kudos to Champion for again showing us the amount of effort and craftsmanship put into these builds. Cant wait to see more!

What are you doing to resolve the issues with the lifters? If you plan to hit 8k your lifter will not sustain that rpm for to long.

Addressed but not certain what they did. I have an "army" of people working on the car and I have had two overseas customers in over the past two weeks so have been out of the loop. Given a CMS warranty is provided and given the credentials of the individuals involved in the build I see no reason to be concerned. I will ask and post the results. The engine build will take place this week (I think) after the hired help is flown in to oversee and participate in the process. Champion has taken this build very serious and pulled all resources at their disposal. There are many great Builder/Tuners in the Porsche arena and it seems Champion has all intentions of making a big statement with this car.

I must say something that is not specifically related to my car. Coming from a Vette background I am amazed how many very good builders there are working on Porsche's. Although I am partial to one in particular, kudos to all the great Porsche Builder/Tuners out there. It makes for great competition with the end result being very good for those of us whom prefer to modify our cars. The mediocre Vette builders in the US far outway the relatively great ones and the horror stories I have run across are many and unacceptable.

I am certain it will be......and if I get the urge for for power it already has the foundation to bring it to the next level.
