Speaker grill cover vibration

Got this vibration on the passenger side speaker grill cover. How do you take it off? Anybody had this issue?

More common than you would think.

Remove rear panel, instructions in the 997 forum...very easy. With panel off and speaker unplugged you can ID the cause and fix. All you need is a magnetic philips screwdriver for job. Remove screw Located in front seatbelt cavity, flash light helps to ID, then pull panel up first and then towards you. Don't pull too far, unplug speaker. Tap on it to ID rattle cause.

It's the smaller(top) section of grill that vibrates. If I hold it the vibration stops. How is this fixed? Do I really have to remove the entire panel?

The buzz is fixed fairly easy by placing adhesive felt strips on the inside of the '1' shaped hooks used to secure the grill to the speaker. You can see the six '1' hooks in the picture above . . .

Cut felt strips long enough to cover the inside of '1' and wrap over the top to the other side. When all six posts are covered with felt, pop the speaker grill back in - no more buzz
