Chrono torque advantage???

Chrono torque advantage???
I'm interested in an 08 Turbo which doesn't have the Chrono Sport pkg. Is there an easy way to change the program so that it will have that low end torque advantage since I won't be able to select it with that option?
Thank You

Levrac,
I've never used the Chrono Option... I don't track, I don't race. To tell you the truth, I have no idea how to activate it if I had to. I will however read up on it as I am studying the Pressure Monitor at the moment.

If you do a search you will find that most of the members on here, myself included, would not purchase a 997 turbo without the sport chrono. This is not only because you do not get the overboost function, but also because having sport chrono also equates to better resale of the car. As for the torque difference, the car has 460 without and I believe 503 with sport chrono overboost.

Ten seconds is a long time when you are accelerating through 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd gear. It is noticeable imho.

And, that's not all it does. It also changes the all wheel drive to more rear bias (very noticeable on the track), gives a more responsive throttle and makes PASM less intrusive.
You can add it and just do without the Wart on the dash. The Sport button is a must.

I would think 45 lb ft of torque is quite substantial. And ten seconds is enough to finish a quarter mile or decently long straight on a track.

10 seconds is a lifetime in these cars. The additional torque makes a big difference.

torque difference is great...and it is for 10 secs every time you accelerate...also sport button changes tip program to sport mode...it totally differs the car...I always press sport when i start to drive my car...(and then set pasm to mornal again...)throtle response gets crispier, psm interferes less and more torgue is applied to rear wheels...

Marketing
Resale value aside, a tune gives you full time 500+ lb/ft anyway.
If I were ordering a car, I would not get the $1900 Sport Chrono, despite the extra PCM comfort configurations.
The Porsche marketing guys are just as brilliant than the Porsche engineers!

This Sports Chrono thingy doesn't provide as much torque to make a big difference. 10 seconds may be ages, but the standard torque is a lot already and the difference being minimal I doubt one can sense the half second to 100 MPH it may give them. However, why not have it? It's not like you're paying for it, you're paying for a car someone built and then why not get the best out of it?
I however think Porsche knew that SC wasn't great by itself, so they made up a package with Sports Chrono and Dynamic Engine Mounts, to make more money out of it. Kinda cute...
Oh, can you get SC without that ugly stopwatch? I think that's not possible, is it?
