Exhaust tone changes with Sport ON?
Last week when i was parking my (warmed) 997TT I played with the sport button...to my surprise, exhaust tone changes with sport on and off...has any other mention that?perhaps its APR race prorgam that sets turbo vanes in different position for idling?
P.S. it happens only with warm engine...not cold...

Yes, the .1 also. The tone deepens and a little louder. It's subtle with stock exhaust, slightly more noticeable with aftermarket exhaust.

Sport mode changes several parameters that will influence the tone of the exhaust. If you have a 997TT with a LWFW, listen to the rattle when the engine is warmed up with and without sport mode. Huge difference.

I have a tip car...however this was the first time to play with sport button with warm engine parked...Without touching throttle sound changes...So it may has something to do with VTG vanes pitch set at idle...it might differ at sport mode...

Stef at EP told me about this - it's the change in VTG pitch in Sport mode. With MT and clutch depressed very noticeable at 1500 rpm in Sport mode.

Skand I tested mine on warm idle going to and from SC to normal a number of times and if there is any difference it is so extremely subtle i wouldnt want to put money on it being there. Maybe it's different in a tip? If the idle speed didn't alter when you push the SC button maybe it would be easier to pick/confirm if there was any change. As sharky says, the idle and throttle response is noticeably different between the two modes. However, to say the exhaust note is any different is not something i would be able to definately say while just sitting in neutral at idle with a few up/ down revs at the stab of the throttle. It was the same with clutch in when switching between both modes. What Stef refers to as a noticeable change in exhaust note occurs at @ 1700rpm when you hold the rpms at 1700 and depress the clutch whilst in neutral. Doing that, you can distinctly hear the change in note of the mode you are in as the vanes change pitch in the turbo chargers. But again, because the rev speed changes the moment you push the SC button you can't tell any difference in note between either mode even when doing Stef's test. Maybe Skand it's time to change your exhaust out my friend . You may also improve on that very impressive time of yours JK. But... it is quite possible because if Madsex has you beat on the open road it's probably because he has that lovely EP2 working to his favor . Food for thought .The fact these EP systems make a very noticeable improvement even without the tune file loaded should mean that with the tune file loaded the performance can only be better again .

remove a catalyst from any car it will make a difference.
EP is favoured because I believe their engineering design is superior to the others
allowing the added flow benefit whilst retaining catalyst efficiency.
SC definitely changes the engine sound I believe caused by advanced timing.
May be the engine note owners are hearing?

Removing cats....I'm definitely not going to go there!! The consequences if found out would be verrrry costly indeed . I prefer to keep things as legal as possible. Remembering that a noisy car is a way way more likey to get caught out for an inspection than a quiet car. And with all that shiney metal underneath that most AM systems are made of that indicate you've changed things around...it becomes a bust in the waiting. So a good looky look by the authorities is well on the cards. When you consider the consequences all of a sudden an EP becomes a very cheap system....and legal with cats .
