has anyone tried exotic car insurance for their 997 tt?

Just wondering if anyone here uses an exotic car insurance company/policy on their 997tt. Seems like those policies restrict the mileage limit to 3000 but I probably will only put less than 2500 miles on mine a year. For those that have gotten quotes, are the rates a lot better than say geico, state farm, all state, etc?

I am with State Farm with my 997.1 with 100k/300k/100k limits and pay $1400 a year for a daily driver. This is in Harris County which is Houston TX. Some of the highest auto rates in the US.

Pay $1180 per year with Allstate and have it listed as recreational use, less than 10,000 miles per year. I'm in Southern California and I paid $983 this year for registration/plates on my 2007 Turbo!

When I read posts about car taxes in CT and CA, it reminds me how low the cost of living in Cincinnati really is (relatively speaking).

Whats the x/x/x mean? I want to make sure I am comparing apples to apples.

I'm looking at my coverage and its broken down into a lot more than 3 categories.

I believe it is uninsured/underinsured/property damage. I could be wrong though. Maybe I should raise my limits? Mine is at 100/300/100. Any input on this?

You need to compare the price of insurance with a certain amount of caution... None of these prices can be compared on a level playing field unless you can also attest to the treatment you get when you actually need the insurance provider to deliver. Getting a low annual cost is of little consolation when they run the other way the first time you put in a claim. ...just saying...

Jay,

If you only have 100/300/100 and drive a Turbo, it's not enough.

In Texas we pay registration fees on the weight of the car. Mine was ~$67 last year plus ~$42 for a 1 year inspection. That is it. No other BS and NO state income tax either in the Great State of Texas.

Hmm. Still not matching up for me as 3 easy numbers.

I have usaa and its $1140 a year.

Bodily Injury Liability If you hurt someone in an auto accident, we'll help pay up to

300,000/500,000 per person/per accident

Property Damage Liability If you damage someone else's property in an auto accident, we'll help pay up to

100,000 per accident

Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury If an uninsured or underinsured driver injures you or your passengers, we'll help pay up to

300,000/500,000 per person/per accident

Uninsured Motorists Property Damage If an uninsured driver damages your vehicle, we'll help pay up to

100,000 per accident

For Comprehensive and collision I don't believe there is an upper limit. They look at the msrp of the car and adjust for deprecation and try to put you back in the same car if totaled.

I also have a 1 mil umbrella policy that will kick in if any of that stuff doesn't meet my needs.

I wanted some piece of mind in case god forbid I tap someones bumper and they see dollar signs and want to take me to the cleaners.
