What kind of Question is that YES 997.1? If you think your more Knowledgeable on this Subject you can call Switzer

I had a 700 kit on my car for about 15k miles before the trans started to leak. Renntech rebuilt the trans almost 2 years ago and it has been holding up pretty strong. Thinking about adding an external cooler to the trans soon (like the really big power tiptronics)

I, really hope I don't have any Future problems with about 520HP. I, live about 5 Miles from Renntech . What are you running to the Wheels?

You should be fine at 520HP! The real killer of the tip is the torque! There are a handful of people on the board who have toasted there's at 600 WHP! Good Luck!

Thanks I even drove over to Renntech and spoke to them they said I will be fine at 520HP they said 600+ then I will have to upgrade. All Tuners say something different that's the most common problem with the Forums it has it's advantages & disadvantages I guess.

Here's the latest update I, decided to NOT take any chances and just do Switzer's 600kit no VTG's only ECU & TCU, Drop in Filter, Exhaust. I want to thank everyone on this Thread for your Feedback and support.

I`ve heard the Speedshift 5 Gear is the same transmission, which they still sell in the Merc. AMG S 65. If that is right, it will not be my first goal to tune it, because the S65 comes along with up to 1.000nm (2-4.000 rpm).

It's a Mercedes 722.6 transmission and it's rated at 1300Nm. It needs to be rebuilt to handle that much power.

Just reviving this thread

Any new developments in the tiptronic upgrade world?

For those of us with more modest power upgrade dreams (ECU/exhaust/ICs), what is the way to achieve sportier shifting, higher in the rev range, like PDK's Sport Plus? Is a TCU remap sufficient? And can anyone recommend or not recommend a brand based on their experience? Do the valve bodies need to be replaced too?

Will any of this work affect the daily driving comfort of the stock transmission?

Cheers,

drvik

Guys its not that the tip cant handle the power its what I am constantly saying, the tips and PDK's hold boost. If the Tip was like the Manual you wouldnt have that problem

Mine is at RennTech right now getting "upgraded"! Should be done this week. I sure would love to install it Saturday and take my Sunday morning drive! I have been down for too long....lol I am also wondering about a reflash. They are asking me if I want to do something to converter or just flush it. I don't plan on going higher than my K16 billets so it should be fine.

996 Tiptronic is different from the 997

Never seen a fast 996 Tiptronic, please make a video, I'm curious to see how it shifts.
