Here's a great article that goes nicely with this post. I'm in the market for a 997.1 turbo. so this has been part of my research to make sure I don't end up with a "problem"...

Shame too... We were about ready to pull the trigger on this one. Green over tan is so classy. Oh well the search continues. Can't in good conscience pull the trigger on a car that has seen a Type 6 over rev.

In order to hit a 6, I'm under the assumption you're going to register 1 through 5 as well. I'm guessing in this instance he got a 5 and brushed into a 6 momentarily. That's a 9k plus zing.
Who's Hans? I've been trying work with a guy named Denver who is painfully slow to respond.

No, that was all I got it and it took 5 phone calls just to get that screen shot. I emailed about an hours report but I won't hold my breath on that one as they even ignored my initial request for more info. Supposedly the clutch is smoked (they're replacing it) and that's why it had so many over revs. Not really sure how it would be related unless the clutch slipped so bad it's blowing past the rev limiter when you put your foot down.
I'm working pretty hard to make this happen. Probably too hard. This is likely a sign I should walk away on this one. I loved this color combo. It's depressing doing my online searches each morning only find the same 100 black and silver cars....

deputydog95 - i'd recommend focusing your used search on porsche new car dealers, as i found it much easier to get a DME report out of them, and it was always free. i called far and wide in my search nearly 3 years ago. found a car in pittsburg. the 2nd best car was in colorado.
that metallic green is very nice. my '07 coupe is that same color..

If I'm reading this correctly there have been at least 350 hours between the last rev limiter hit (ranges 1/2/3) which appears to have been about 10,000 miles ago. Time is your friend here so I wouldn't let the over-revs negatively influence you...but then it's your money/decision. I still think the 1 ignition in range 6 is a "glitch". Good luck.

Reviving and old thread with a question about a DME scan. I'm looking at a Cayman R with 16900 miles and was wondering if the the high value of Range 1 should be an issue of concern or not? Am I correct that the car has spent roughly 13 seconds in range 1 over its life? 4614 / 360 ignitions per second

Another Rev Report for a nube
Hello,
Considering a 2005 997.1 base carrera, 76.9K miles
Received the following rev report;
Range #ignitions Op. Hrs.
1 39639 2186.1
2 4059 2186.1
3 464 1996.7
4 37 1936.2
5 0
6 0
I was not given the total number of hours on the engine, but suspect it is near 2200, as that would suggest an average speed of 37mph over it's life.
Am I reading this correctly that Revs in zones 1 and 2 have been frequent and occurring to date?
If this is correct, that the revs in zone 3&4 have occurred w/n the last 200hrs?
Appreciate any advice or recommendations on this potential purchase.
Cheers,
Jim

Help reading 2007 911 turbo report
Lots of smarter people then me on this thread and hoping to solicit some help.
Looking at a 2007 911 turbo 30k miles and trying to figure out how hard the car was driven and if the DME is good or bad and if I should buy vs run/ looks like about 300 hours ago it was ran pretty hard.
It is being sold at the dealer so they felt it was good enough not to send to auction. Well optioned vehicle with adaptive seats and good color combo but MSRP around $130k so not all the bells and whistles. I would say it is priced about $5k under retail but I am seeing a bit of softness right now going into the winter. Thanks for the communities help in advance!
