PASSPORT, VALENTINE, or K40???

Btw, I run with small 'L' mode. It eliminates bogus intrusions and only allows in anything that is serious.
Mike Valentine has said before that he does not want to allow for "learning" of trivial frequencies in that it builds in complacency and takes the ability of the driver to ultimately make that choice for his or herself to mute or not mute something that could potentially be a threat.

V1 v1 v1 v1 v1 v1 v1 v1 v1
I would go with V1.
I always run one on the car and bike.
Personally I disable X band and run on "A" mode.
Also remember double tap for it to go quiet despite new signals.
To me the V1 is a high-end scientific instrument whereas anything made by Escort is a mass-produced consumer item. In reality they are both, and the Escort products are good products, but if I was going to plunk down another $400, it'd be on an extra V1.

I have run the Passport 8500 next to the V1 plenty before I made my decision after I got my M3, tested them sometime in 2007.
Passport by FAR with the GPS capability it has now to block out false positives. The thing gets radar signals almost TOO well. I think it must reach out 2 miles or something ridiculous. It's a no brainer for me.
PASSPORT!.
My car came with an integrated K40 and it was a joke. Maybe the install was bad but it was worthless. The guy who bought this thing and paid for the install really got taken for a ride.
Now, if only someone came up with a way to detect when a cop is about to pull the trigger and get you with Instant-On...

Damned people. He's not asking for a pole. He's asking for reasoning. V1 whoring (myself included) doesn't give him that. If you haven't had experience with both, you really can't give an opinion. If you do give an opinion, throw the guy a bone as to why.

To all the guys who complained about the V1 false alarms there is a simple way to turn off the bands which give these alerts. I am a techno retard and I figured it out if you go the the V1 website. Do a search for the thread I did a year ago about how to turn off those bands.
Now when my V1 starts singing I know its legit.

Here's the thing, I have a 9500ci system. Never owned any other previously, but been in cars with all sorts. Sure the V1 comes highly recommended and if I were to make a decision on the most sensitive hardware I would take that or the new Beltronics. However, receiving a signal 1/10th of a second sooner, or 20m further, is practically ridiculous.
Honestly, human reaction time takes so much out of the equation that the TOP brands are indistinguishable. Where the 9500ci shines, and I do mean... it honestly is head and shoulders above the rest, is it’s fully programmable with a GPS sensor, and weekly updates. Hence there are NO false signals. And this is a rare thing in the detector world.
If you have ever been in a car where the thing is so sensitive it gets triggered every 5 min – it will drive you crazy. That’s what most don’t realize. Hence from a usability and interface standpoint I would pick one with a database of all false signals and threats.
Additionally with the 9500ci you get weekly updates, via email reminders. So you can upload your markers and download every one elses, keeping current on all locations in North America.
And if you’re worried about being the first to be hit… well the 9500ci comes with shifters (jammers) up front making this a true Klingon Cloaking device for your vehicle!

K40 - installed
I have a K40 with front and back sensors and jammer permanently installed and hidden from view. It was in the car when I bought it a few months ago. It is the Calibre version. Two Blue LED's flash at start-up shown in the central ODO display and an audible "tock-tock" type sound to tell you the unit is armed. The Jammer has separate button under the dash to "silence". Works fine from what I can see. I am used to an Escort Solo that worked fine too here in California. I have a remote control to set alarms and mode. Warning sound and LED's flashing are definitely sufficient to warn you that something is happening. Have not yet had too much exposure to the LEO's as they are not using radar / LIDAR etc on the freeways.

Does anybody have any experience with the escort live service or the similar service for the V1 (radaractive)?
http://www.escortradar.com/escort-live
http://radaractive.com/
thanks,
Ra34
PS I have a V1 and a K40 calibre in another car. I like the V1 better but the stealth install of the K40 is great. I have not had any issues with laser yet with either of them. I would vote V1, especially if you can do some sort of stealth install.
