Between 2000-3000, it's louder than stock, but a little, very civilized. Over 3000 it starts to build and really comes to life.

rexz419,
I'm in the same shoes as you are. Picked up a Turbo S cab, and the first two upgrades I'm looking to do are coil overs and an exhaust system. With so many choices, it's really difficult! Basing decisions on Youtube videos is also impossible, since the actual sound is impossible to replicate.
Currently, I'm leaning towards a custom system by BBI in Southern CA, Cargraphics, or Fabspeed. I'll have to research the AWE system.
Good luck, and keep me posted on what you decide and the reasons behind it!

Guys, Fabspeed has been selling more of the 2.75" Supersport X-Pipe exhaust systems for the Gen. 2 997 Turbo 3.8L as these are significantly quieter than the Gen. 1 997 Turbo. Our Supersport X-Pipe still includes the 200 cell HJS sport catalytic converters to improve power and sound throughout the RPM range. Here is a video of a local Turbo S that features the complete Performance Package with ECU.

Damn, the 1st to second shift is fast. I have practiced but the computer has me beat. However, those 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are a very small part of the fun in a turbo. For now, or until I get disabled or real old, even with that short-coming, I'm staying with the non robot controlled manual-manual.
