Not sure if your "only 40" comment is sarcasm or not, but either way good detective/stalker work since my age or bd is not posted here.

You are right I am blessed to have built of business that allows me to do what I do.

you must be a rockefeller, right ?

Not sure I understand your logic here, cash or loan (same as cash to a dealer, bank, ect) the car still has depreciation.

If you want to spend your time chasing $3k a year that is your decision based on what your time is worth. If you have the 'free' time there is your arbitrage.

The difference in the rate arbitrage alone is like giving away $15K (tax adjusted) over 5 years for the pleasure of paying cash

Yes sir. I tried a few of the recommended ones on the forum. Unfortunately it appears as many of them cater to high end cars so the rates are "as low as 4.9%" or higher. The major banks like BoA and Wells Fargo are under 3.

Still looking. Thanks for all the help. It will be that much more satisfying when I take delivery.

Try cacu.com (Community of America Credit Union). They are really easy to deal with and have great rates.

Cheers and best of luck!

So, what's the cut off for paying with cash? I recently bought my car and did cash 50k which got me a better deal from the private seller.

This is my thought process as well. The car depreciates regardless if its financed or paid for in cash. If you car hop every 2 years a lease might be a good deal if the numbers work.

Another good thing about financing is there is the option of gap insurance in case the car depreciates faster than you are paying off the loan. If in the unfortunate event that you total the car you could come out ahead.

While interest rates are at an all time low, so are things that give safe returns.

Why would cash get you a better deal from a private seller unless the private seller was going to be your "bank". A dealer isn't going to give you a better deal for cash, in fact they make a small profit if they can provide you the financing...unless, of course, you don't have the credit to finance, then they would look favorably at cash.

Obviously nobody NEEDS a porsche. You can get by on a $1000 used Honda. I want it, and I will do what it takes.

Anyway, BoA did not approve it because they did not want me carrying a loan for two cars. I'm getting rid of my current car to buy a new one. How does it usually work haha. You can't get rid of one until you get another. For that short time, you'll have to carry two loans.

It's looking bleak....but I'll keep looking. It appears that my income is just at the limit of what I can get approved for? Funny, I make more than enough to pay for this and maintain my current lifestyle.
I beg to differ! :-) we need Porsches! LOL Banks seem to be all over the place these days on what they will approve. I had the. Money to pay cash for my 2010 Turbo and mu 2011 GT3RS but I financed both cars and invested my money and have already done well in those investments. My point is I agree that it's ok to finance for a low apr as long as the finance is done right. I went through Chase for one loan and PFS on the GT3RS. I don't have kids or ex wives and as hard as I work... Porsches are needed! ;-).. You will get that financing as I'm pretty sure that dealer/salesman wants his commission !
Life is short. And a good balance includes enjoying one of the finest motocars in the worl.... Porsche. Post photos when you get it!

+1 on the credit union. I was going to pay cash for my new Turbo but 60 month money at 1.99% (100% financing if I had needed it) at my credit union was a no brainer. I'm keeping the cash handy should this economy ever get fixed

Hey guys. Sorry for the late reply/update. Also many thanks to the member here who called the dealership for me to try to push things through.

So I was not approved for the loan through BoA and a few other's I've tried. It's strange to me since I will have no issue affording it, especially since my home is paid off. But I took it as a sign that maybe it's not the right time.

I just relocated to CA from NJ and I went house shopping 2 weekends ago. For the monthly payment of the Porsche (and other things I'm getting rid of/reducing monthly fees), I can get a house that's $250K more. On top of what I would get with my house sale in NJ, I started looking at homes in the higher price bracket and found a ton that I fell in love with.

For now, I'm decided to get a nicer house. When the time comes, I'll get the 911TT, and probably a newer better one.

In the meantime, to fill the void, I went ahead and picked up a white Ducati Monster 796. My dream of having a 2 car garage is pretty dumb if I don't have a toy to put in it.

Thanks all for your recommendations/advice. I appreciate it. I'm obviously going to hang around here until I finally get the Pcar of my dreams.
