997.1 Clutch Options

Without getting too big of a case of 'While you're in there-itis" it might be a good idea to replace the clutch disc as well. Everyone seems to use the Sachs 764 pressure plate mentioned above.
I'm in the market for a new clutch as well, I am considering the Protomotive GT3RS flywheel / sprung disc / Sachs pressure plate combination. Not sure that I want the lightweight flywheel though. I will be upgrading the turbos, intercoolers, etc.

contact Tom @ Champion, i JUST installed their clutch kit on my car 2 days ago.... IM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE. night and day difference from factory from the clutch feel to response. Also the engagement is better than stock. Don't think twice, i researched clutches for our cars for almost 3 months before i went ahead with it.

I got the Sachs stage 2.5 from Mike at AWE. This clutch I believe uses the 764 plate as well. My factory clutch had 34K on it so I figured that if I'm going in there I'd better replace the entire thing, especially with plenty of DEs and some 1/4 visits coming up.
This clutch is awesome!!! It feels 95% factory and can handle plenty of power.

I installed the Porsche heavy duty pressure plate and disc on my 06 Carrera. When I received it come to find out that it was a SACHs clutch kit. This was installed on a TPC supercharged carand I never had any issues with it.

Had the ClutchMasters Stage 3 (8-puck) and absolutely hated it. Switched to the Sach's 2.5 kit from AWE w/ LWFW and it is much, much better. Maybe wish I had gone w/ regular flywheel though b/c the rattle is pretty annoying sometimes.

Among others, including Sachs, I believe CMS represents a new (to Porsche) line of clutches made by RPS Clutchunder the name of ERP. RPS can be seen at www.turboclutch.com. ERP offers single, double, and triple carbon discs with holding power of to ~ 950 FT#. I have one in my GT2 and love it. It may not be for folks who like super-stiff peddle pressure. IMO the softer peddle allows you to concentrate on more important things. I used RPS in my vettes and wouldnt go anywhere else. Excellent holding power, quality, very long lasting, and superb factory customer service. BTW:very little or no clatter.
Im sure they represent Sachs well.
